O Soajeiro — Restaurant in Lisbon

In my opinion the best portuguese food you get in Lisbon. The restaurant is very authentic and you will get a traditional portuguese experience The service is very professional, quick and kind.

Let’s talk about the food.

I recommend to order the classic meat skewer. The meat is marinated in a butter garlic mixture and grilled over a charcoal grill served with fresh fried potato chips. This stuff is addicting.

You also have to get the garlic bread. The bread is the perfect match for the meat juice left behind on the plate. This really is the perfect balance of every flavor.

To finish this truly amazing experience you have to share a jug of the house red wine. It is around 6€ for one Liter and it perfectly sums up the food experience.

tldr; authentic food for a fair price with fast service.

Apparently, this restaurant is frequently visited by Portuguese people. We particularly enjoyed the fried fish and the fast service. It is amazing how one waitress handled more than 20 customers effortlessly. The prices are very reasonable, a full 3 course meal for 2 persons was 40€ with tip. However, don't expect anything fancy. Great portuguese food, especially the roasted garlic bread (bolo de caco) and the grilled beef (espetada madeirense) are really good. These two unfortunately are not served very often in lisbon as they are more of a madeira thing i think.
