So there we were, exploring the labyrinthine streets of lxfactory, our stomachs growling for a fix of delectable charcuterie and a well-matched glass of vino. And then, like a beacon in the night, we stumbled upon Pausa La Salumeria di Ruvida.
No fancy façades or ostentatious displays here—just a cute little joint offering three different charcuterie and cheese platters. And let me tell you, these guys knew their stuff. The majority of their selections hailed from Italy, bringing together a mouthwatering trio of ham, dry sausage, and salami. It was a flavor explosion that hit all the right spots.
But here's the kicker: they threw in a curveball we couldn't resist—the infamous pig head. Now, I'll admit, I'd never tried it before, but curiosity got the better of me. And you know what? It was damn good. Surprisingly flavorful and a welcome addition to the charcuterie lineup.
As if the food alone wasn't enough, the staff sealed the deal with their friendly vibes. We ended up shooting the breeze for a solid ten minutes, swapping stories and getting some killer recommendations for our future stops. It was that genuine human connection that made the whole experience even more memorable.
So, if you find yourself wandering around lxfactory and that charcuterie craving hits you hard, don't think twice—make a beeline for Pausa La Salumeria di Ruvida. It's a down-to-earth spot with killer platters, a pig head surprise, and some of the friendliest folks you'll meet. Trust me, you...
Read morePausa is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city for its directness. There’s no fuzz, no nonsense, everything is straight to the point. They don’t make a lot of dishes, but what they make, they do exceptionally.
The highlight here is their selection of focaccia sandwiches. Since they have a wide assortment of cold cuts in-house, they can craft delicious sandwiches with fresh ingredients and harmonious flavor combos. But their pasta dishes are equally as tasty, with a selection of well-made classics available on the menu using fresh pasta.
This is a great choice if you don’t wanna splurge on their sister restaurant, Ruvida, one of the absolute best Italian restaurants...
Read moreWe accidentally left a pair of sunglasses on the table after our meal. When we returned to ask, one male staff member admitted there had been something left behind, but our server quickly dismissed it to him. The inconsistent answers left us with the impression that the situation wasn’t handled honestly. It was disappointing, as the food/atmosphere was fine, but it was obvious the female waitress was up to not much good as we kept having that vibe the whole time. The situation didn’t match the way this was dealt with, which is a shame. Would not...
