Tanite — Restaurant in Lisbon

What a delightful dining experience we had at this restaurant! On the day before our departure from Lisbon, a quick Google search led us to this gem, all in pursuit of a Portuguese sandwich called Franchesinha. It turns out we couldn't have made a better choice.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by an enthusiastic waiter who set the tone for the entire meal. One of the standout features of this restaurant is its commitment to providing excellent value and generous portions. The Franchesinha, the dish we initially sought, exceeded our expectations. It was a mouthwatering delight that left us craving for more.

Not content with just the sandwich, we decided to explore the menu further. One of us ordered the steak, and the other opted for the fried cod. Each dish was a masterpiece in its own right. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with flavour, while the fried cod was a crispy, moist and delectable treat. These culinary delights reaffirmed our decision...

Tanite is a prime example of the quintessential Lisbon neighborhood tasca. Honest, down to earth food served by the warmest staff who’ll remember your face from the first time you go there.

Been going there for years in family outings or to grab a quick bite, don’t think i’ve ever seen a tourist and rarely seen someone’s that doesn’t live/work within walking distance - this is grassroots stuff.

The menu entails all the Portuguese staples: steak and fries, codfish done a few different ways, Portuguese stew (cozido), fried liver (iscas), etc. - all of them are executed well and served in hearty, healthy portions.

Typical draught beer is served ice cold and fast, wine list is solely Portuguese and solely middle class - no fancy stuff here.

Pricing is so reasonable i sometimes wonder how they’ve been able to maintain such quality and consistency over the years - specially seeing the intense gentrification of the wider...

NOTA DE PESAR AO GENOCÍDIO / ATENTADO que estes senhores praticam no seu restaurante. Já comi francesinhas em centenas de restaurante por Portugal fora e pelo mundo e digo-vos com toda a certeza que esta foi longe de sombra de dúvidas a pior francesinha que comi em toda a minha vida. Dai deixar literalmente esta nota de pesar ao genocídio/ atentado que estes senhores praticam no seu restaurante. Antes de me dirigir ao restaurante como de costume verifiquei e analisei todos os comentários e não me pareceu mau, então bora lá experimentar mais uma francesinha. Bom por onde começar, pelo início, ora atendimento medíocre e desmazelado! A "francesinha" e notem bem que pus entre parênteses, pois realmente isto é um atentado, uma enorme ofensa à gastronomia nacional e cultural, as nossas origens e as gentes do norte. Bom, o molho, um prato cheio de água colorida, completamente deslavada e desenxabida, sem qualquer tipo de sabor ou aquele quê de amor e raizes que se vê em qualquer outro molho de francesinha. RECOMENDO VIVAMENTE QUE SE REALMENTE QUEREM CONTINUAR A SERVIR ESSE PRATO A QUE CHAMAM FRANCESINHA, RECONSIDEREM E MUITO REFAZER O MOLHO, POIS É UMA FALTA DE RESPEITO CHAMAREM FRANCESINHA AO QUE SERVEM. Se por ventura o vosso staff não forem qualificados para o fazer, simplesmente vão ao continente, pingo doce, makro, etc e comprem o molho já pronto. Faziam melhor figura e garantidamente os clientes sairiam daí muito mais satisfeitos. Em relação ao pão, não sei que tipo de pão usaram ao certo, mas pronto, até passa. Carnes também não as de melhor qualidade! Ora no meio do molho vinha, não sei se um pedaço de plástico, daquelas etiquetas com o preço das peças de roupa ou se uns grãos de arroz que devem ter caído da prateleira no molho devido ao sismo que se fez sentir em Lisboa em 1755.

Carissimo proprietário e responsáveis do estabelecimento, se é para fazer façam bem feito, dá exactamente o mesmo trabalho.
