Rendez Vous Bistro — Restaurant in Lisbon

One of the most disappointing dining experiences on my recent memory. We needed a place nearby to have a dinner and came to Rendez Vous Bistro because it had such good reviews and was close by. The cheese and charcuterie board was nothing special but not bad either. Swordfish was tasty but very salty. I know restaurants tend to put too much salt but this was really over the top. Vanilla risotto with scallops was strange, the taste combo really didn’t not work in this dish. Scallops were similarly too salty. At the end another waiter came to us to settle to bill, than the one that served us at the start, we paid the bill but once we were already on our way from the hotel we ended up being chased by our original waiter who was apparently not aware that we have already paid our bill to his colleague. Overall a very odd and disappointing...

We had dinner here Easter Sunday just passed after an overnight flight from the States to Madrid and then on to Lisbon. All this to say, that by the time we arrived at Rendez Vous, we were beat!!! Rendez Vous is in the elegant Altis Grand Hotel. The doorman was not taken back by our appearance and kind enough to walk us to the bistro. To me the place at the ambience and vibe of fine dining ala 1963 (this is good). Joao Gilberto and so on was the background music. Service was excellent, friendly and prompt. Our waiter recommended a great red wine to go with the duck we ordered. We also had the cod. A delightful experience! The service was impeccable - the staff was very attentive and considerate. The cuisine exceeded all expectations! We tried a variety of dishes: • Delicious, well-prepared ribs • Juicy and flavorful steak • Tender salmon paired with aromatic soba noodles The desserts were a wonderful finale to the meal: • Creamy, refreshing ice cream • Exotic tapioca with ice cream and coconut flakes, offering an interesting texture Each dish was a true culinary masterpiece. I definitely recommend this place for a special evening or simply to enjoy excellent food in a pleasant atmosphere! As a complimentary gesture from the establishment, we were given their signature Portuguese dessert to take away – the freshest pastel de natas. This dessert is a pastry cup filled with custard cream. Pastel de nata has a delicate flaky crust and a creamy filling with a hint of vanilla. This pastry is a culinary icon and national treasure...
