W3 deided to have dinner here as we qere staying very close by and it was recommended by our hist. This is definitely the authentic experience so if you want fancy and fussy go elsewhere, however if you want good, plentiful food cooked and served by locals for locals, this may be for you. I had hake whichbis beautifully cooked and served with bouled potatoes and vegetables. Hubby had barbecue beef syrups which were served with fries which he described as ok but would puck differently if eating there again. Our 16 year old son had salmon served with small boiled potatoes and vegetables which he said was very good and his 16 year old pal had steak with fries which he said qas very good.

Service was kind and attentive. We were the only ones in the restaurant though. They could not speak English but we communicated with google translate with no issues. There is a full menu in Portuguese, and a smaller one in english, I believe there is more to order from the original one (like octopus dishes etc). They only take cash here so be prepared. It is a small restaurant, not the fancy one but does the job. I do recommend the fish. Especially dorado. The meats are not so good. They saw that I did not eat my food because it was not chewable. Fabulously unpretentious restaurant. No tourists, just happy Lisbonites who have come here to do two things: eat flesh and drink wine. Os Baroes provides both in abundance. Everything comes with chips and rice. We had one vegetarian with us, she got a cheese omelette, no choice. The waiter, impatient but good humoured, is run off his feet - no time for pleasantries - but the food arrives, fast and perfectly grilled, no questions, they know how to cook and they don’t need to be told.
