Sammy Sosa — Restaurant in Lisbon

We arrived somewhat late in the evening and this was the only place open and what an incredibly pleasant surprise! We have just spent 4 days in Lisbon (from London) and have visited SammySosa 4 times. I personally have travelled to extensively and this place is one I'm going to remember and when I return to Lisbon I will be sure to make an extra special stop here. The food is superb; we tried almost everything over the course of our visits and there is nothing I would not recommend, from the chimichanga's to the quasaedilla and my husband's favourite, the enchilada's. Drinks-wise, the passionfruit margarita's were a particular favourite of mine (I only had about 14 of them! 😉) but the ginger margarita came a very close 2nd. But the BEST part of this place is the staff (I hope I remember all of these correctly!): Shubs, Josna, Manoj and Carinni are so welcoming and warm and went above and beyond to ensure our visit(s) were the most enjoyable and we even had the pleasure of meeting the owner who could not do enough for us to ensure we had the best experience. I sincerely hope that people ignore the negative Nancy's and remember that, if you treat the people who serve your food kindly, they will reciprocate by making sure your evening is fabulous. I would genuinely return to Lisbon specifically to visit SammySosa's and meet the incredible staff again (and the Chipotle chicken...

The food was absolutely outstanding! We ordered a burrito, quesadilla, and some tacos, and each dish was bursting with flavor. The burrito was perfectly seasoned, with tender meat and fresh ingredients wrapped in a soft, warm tortilla. The quesadilla was crispy on the outside, with gooey cheese and a savory filling that was just spot-on. The tacos, served with all the right toppings, were equally impressive—fresh, vibrant, and delicious with every bite. The drinks were another highlight. They were refreshing, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the meal. But what truly made this dining experience stand out was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. From the moment we walked in until the time we left, they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Pretty awful experience overall. Not authentic Mexican. Have no idea why this restaurant has so many good ratings. Service was poor; the main waiter who sat us down barely spoke to us, let alone spoke any Portuguese; didn’t give us a menu or tell us that it could only be found online via a QR code. Had nachos, chicken enchiladas and chicken tinga tacos with micheladas for drinks. All were disappointing. Nachos appeared like they were store bought from a packet. Sauces could have been squeezed from a bottle…the guacamole was passable. Wasn’t sure what was going on with the micheladas…way too much tomato juice and hot sauce, couldn’t taste any beer and not sure why there was a celery stick in there…wasn’t sure if I had inadvertently ordered Bloody Mary instead.
