Expectations where high because of what I heard about the place itself. Unfortunately I can’t really come to terms with lack of cleanliness, when the table cloth is wet the initial plate that came to the table was dirty and my cutlery was dirty as well. I returned the items The service is just as poor. I initially order the Sopa de Cação, which wasn’t available I went on to ask for the Arroz de cabidela which the waiter answered if it’s on The menu it should be available. Which technically is not true because the Sopa de cacao was not available and it was on the menu. I ended up giving 2 orders just in case the arroz was not available. The waiter did not come back to me to let me know what was actually available. To be honest the Cabidela wasn’t bad if only ir wasn’t a big por of rice with 2 decent pieces of chicken. Ladies and gentlemen I am Portuguese I know what Portuguese food looks and tastes wise. Please don’t embarrass out food or the service that we know so we’ll how to deliver. I am only writing in English because I know my people they take it more seriously from a foreigner. Improve because you will loose customers with such poor service and...

We went to Lagar do Xisto on recommendation fron Viking. We were led downstairs to an isolated large room. Staff worked to accommodate our inability to speak Portuguese. We had a novice waitress who tried hard. Experienced waiters helped. We ordered appetizer clams and specials: Veal, lamb, octopus, and octopus and shrimp with rice.
Generally, portions were generous. None of us could finish our meals. Clams were small, tasty but salty, and came with an abundance of oil. Accompanying garlic toast was crisp and tasty. The octopus that came with vegetables and potatoes.
What they called veal did not strike us as veal (we were told it would be boneless but multiple pieces were bony). What we were told was lamb was NOT lamb (tasted like same meat as supposed veal) - had no flavor of lamb), The “octopus and shrimp with rice” had no shrimp but only overcooked octopus. Vegetables were very overcooked.
Every dish was far too salty (swollen ankles!).
I am unable to recommend any of the dishes we...
Overly expensive for the quality and quantity of food on some dishes. Former (Kid) The goatling we ordered came too soaked and was a little "beaten" The curry was good, however it was a simple curry too many ingredients in the curry that took away the characteristic flavor of it. I say this comparing with other "curries" that I'm used to eating. Like Indian or Mozambican. The Curry prawns were overcooked making them so tough. The service was super normal and we noticed a little unreceptiveness when we asked questions about food (before ordering it) Ex: Spicy Curry? R: Curry is homemade, different from most of the "Curries" that exist there" asked if again if it was Spicy because he had not answered the question, it was answered very quickly and a little brusque " no it is not " and it really wasn't clear (the question was not whether or not, but the answer to my question. We also asked if the goatling was a goatling and not lamb, a simple question because in many places they serve it as such, and those who don't know eat it and that's it. We were told "Do you think I'm about to pay exorbitant fines for serving goatling for lamb?" Yes, yes, it's a little goatling. (It was the way it was said) again a...
