A Gávea Marina — Restaurant in Loulé

We have just returned from a very enjoyable 9 days in a sunny and pleasant Vilamoura. A highlight of our trip was our (almost nightly )visits to this restaurant. We found the food and wine excellent and was very reasonable priced - both for set menus and a la carte.It has a lovely location and we dined on the water on warm evenings - which was a real treat in October for us. We found the staff outstanding-professional,hospitable, pleasant and welcoming. A special thank you to Gora, who welcomed us at front of house with a smile and advice, and also to the friendly Felipe and the gracious Anna, who looked after us so well and made us feel at home-as indeed did all of the staff.We will definitely visit again when in Vilamoura. Horrendous! The first time here we had the lunchtime special.. it was extremely dry and tasteless (Swordfish). On a different day we decided to give them benefit of doubt and opted for other items on the menu but of course they didn't fail to disappoint! My chicken piri piri was so dry and bland, the fish they served my husband was of poor quality and tasted of nothing! ...the Sangria, extremely watered down. The worst part is.. they are purposely slow in service to keep you there longer in order to lure other customers in by appearing busy. Moreso, they advertise with cheaper prices and it hurts to see so many tourists...

We had Christmas Lunch at this restaurant today. As per my observation on the area of Marina Vilamoura, it seems they are the only restaurant that was open today. We are glad that we are able to have a place without reservation. We had starter, main dish and dessert. It was tasty! Also the employees are so welcoming, warm and friendly towards us. Also the price was not bad for Christmas Day. They remained the regular price on their menu. We are very happy on our visit. We will definitely come...
