Natraj Indian Tandoori — Restaurant in Loulé

Calling all lovers of Indian cuisine! If you come to Vilamoura, you must try Natraj. Even if you are not keen on Indian flavours, this place will have you converted. We first tried Natraj as a takeaway and it was so good we had to return, but this time we would dine in. The dining experience at Natraj is second to none. Even though we arrived on a busy Friday evening without a booking, we were quickly seated and advised that we would have to wait 15 minutes before ordering. This was not an issue as we were served drinks and complimentary poppadoms which simply melted in our mouths. We hadn't finished our first drink before the waiter arrived to take our order. 10-15 minutes later our starters arrived, the chicken pakora was so fresh and delicious that my partner who wouldn't normally eat pakora, could not resist trying one, then a second and a third. The mains were served shortly after in a spectacle of aromas and exquisite presentation. My chicken biryani was the best I had ever tasted. Herbs and spices danced on my taste buds like nothing I had experienced before. The other two mains ordered by my party were equally as well received. The excellent staff were always on hand to ensure that we were provided with refreshments throughout our courses and were very pleasant in doing so. Upon finishing our meal we knew we had to take samples away for those of us who could not attend, and so we ordered a variety of appetisers to showcase the brilliance of this restaurant. Disappointing Experience

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining, and I must say, it was far from satisfactory. From the moment I arrived, I was met with a level of service that can only be described as pathetic.

The staff at were unfriendly and even arrogant in their demeanor. Their lack of manners and disregard for proper customer service etiquette was evident throughout my entire visit. It was disheartening to witness the staff's complete lack of attention towards the customers, leaving us feeling neglected and unimportant.

To make matters worse, the food served at was cold. This was incredibly disappointing, considering the prices we paid for our meals. It was evident that no effort was made to ensure that our food was served at an appropriate temperature, further adding to our dissatisfaction.

What struck me the most during my time at was the owner and manager's refusal to serve food after waiting for a staggering 1.30 hours. This level of disregard for the customers' time and patience is entirely unacceptable. It left us feeling disrespected and utterly inconvenienced.

In conclusion, my experience at was nothing short of a letdown. The pathetic service, unfriendly and arrogant staff, cold food, and lack of attention given to the customer all contributed to an overall disappointing visit. Upd 2/2025: Since Google does not allow multiple reviews even 2 years apart, I have to update my previous 2023 5 star review to only 3 stars. Sadly, this was our fav Indian restaurants in 2023. This time after just 1 meal, we never went back. Although my hubby's grilled tikka was made fresh, my curry sauce did not taste fresh. It also came out very quickly within 3-4 mins. I dont see how heating the oil, frying the spices, cooking the chicken can be done quite that quick since I'm Indian myself. Prices are much higher than 2023. So we found several other places, lower prices but better quality. We just have to drive 20-25 mins but well worth the drive.

Original review Feb 2023: Definitely the BEST indian place. We've been here for about 4 weeks and eaten here 3 times and headed there today for our last day. Chef comes out to talk to you about your order and ensure he prepares to your liking in terms of spice. Something we are not used to being from the United States is all the little charges. They do bring out papadum automatically which we loved but heads up, there is a charge 3 eu for 2 + a small charge for the sauces that come with it. Water bottles are small.
