Casa do Pescador — Restaurant in Loulé

Situated a short walk from the harbour front, Casa Do Pescador is in the same block as a number of other restaurants that have a more ‘local’ and family run feel to them and that also are very popular with customers and have very good reviews.

We went to Casa Do Pescador on a mid week in early June. We managed to get a table straight away. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. When it came to ordering the helpful waitress asked if we liked fish (I don’t happen to eat seafood but Laura does) and when Laura said yes she said she had to have the sea bass.

For starters Laura had the mussels and I had the melon and Parma ham, and for main course Laura went for the recommended Sea bass and I had the mixed kebab. We did also order the bread and olives which also came with marinated carrots and may have had a tuna Mayo (but this I can’t 100%remember). Along with this we ordered a bottle of local rose wine. All the food was very good and perfectly cooked. When the sea bass turned up, the waitress did mention the bones were in the fish and offered to take these out but Laura was happy to do this. Nous étions tout d'abord ravis d'avoir trouvé ce resto au hasard, bien placé, service au top, rapide,souriant et réactif. Jusqu'à ce que notre ami soit servi de son plat de viande rouge. L'odeur et le goût de la bouchée n'était pas normale....Il a retourner le plat en cuisine ( 1ere fois pour nous dans toute notre vie). Le responsable l'accepte mais bon en nous faisant comprendre que nous sommes de mauvais fois et que nous sommes les seuls qui faisons ça... Il lui propose aussitôt un plat de son choix en remplacement. En nous apportant "le nouveau plat", l'employé nous dit qu'elle avait remarqué qu'il fallait pas envoyer cette viande car elle n'était pas " belle", mais qu'on a dit au serveur "mais non ça passe". Un autre employé nous confirme qu'elle était navrée de ce qui était arrivé, et qu'ils avaient bien vus en cuisine que ce morceau de viande n'était pas bon, mais on leur a dit de le sortir quand même. Bref nous finissons le repas, sans scandale, nous payons notre note : La fameuse viande n'a pas été facturée et le plat de remplacement a été facturé. Le gérant nous encaisse sans excuser, sans geste commercial, sans rien. Réaction que nous avons trouvée limite, car une erreur ça peut arriver, même si ça ne devrait pas, mais on parle de viande avarriée si notre ami l'avait consommé il aurait pu faire une intoxication, la moindre des choses quand on fait une faute pareille ( surtout qu'il y avait un doute en cuisine) c'est de s'excuser et faire un geste commercial... Voilà mauvaise expérience, bien que les 3 autres plats étaient super bons et l'accueil et le sourire de l'equipe était bien là, et eux au moins ont été sincères et navrés de cet incident. We visited 3 restaurants behind the Marina, and this was probably my favourite ... firstly a lovely outside terrace with pretty lights so very romantic at night time, but as it started to rain the waitress saved us a table inside where the atmosphere was great. We ordered the Seabass with fresh vegetables, and the Monk fish and prawns in a tomato and coriander sauce served with rice - both so fresh and tasted amazing.
