Rui's Restaurante (Vilamoura) — Restaurant in Loulé

Came here by recommendation and our experience was quite mixed. The 3 stars are mainly because of the experience when returning a dish.

My lamb chops had way too much barbecue sauce, up to the point that you couldn't feel the taste of the meat anymore for the pieces in the middle (zooming in on my picture will show the amount of sauce underneath the chops)

One of the waiters agreed it shouldn't have had that sauce on the meat, but only for decoration.

After returning the dish to a different waiter, he came back with a different view than the previous waiter, saying that this is the recipe. Nevertheless, I didn't want the dish back nor a replacement since it was getting late.

When I got the bill, a third waiter said they offered a 50% discount on the lamb chops dish, even though I've returned it 95% untouched. I had to insist that it doesn't make any sense and eventually I got the correct bill, without the dish I didn't ate.

As much as I could understand if the recipe was not ony taste, the lack of inconsistency across the staff and still trying to get me paying half of the dish wasn't pleasant.

Unbelievable at just how good this place is. 1st time eating here and it won't be the last. Big portions cooked perfectly. I've never had spare ribs like the ones they served up for a long time. Meaty and tasty and for €16.50 with potatoes and veggies the value is unreal. The garlic prawns my wife had for starters we're immense. Half a dozen very large prawns in a nice garlic sauce with fresh bread and at only €7.95 they're a must have. The table next to us had lamb chops, looked like there was about 8 chops and they said they we're lovely. Cannot recommend Ruis highly enough. Great food and brilliant...

I went to this restaurant after hearing good reviews. I ordered the fillet steak, and whilst I was waiting, I spoke to a guy on the next table who said the place was really good. My food arrived and was well presented, and ALL of it was piping hot. The meal was excellent 👌 and reminded me of an old restaurant I used to visit many years ago in Villamourra (Cataplana).
