AMAZING place, the food is enormous and the stuff here just wow! I loved the fish soup, creamy, tasteful, leaving me wanting more and... I wasn't disappointed :) then we shared codfish “a lagareiro” and black spaghetti with prawns - and let me say - it was THE BEST fish we ever eaten (and we eat a lot in a different places all around the world) and the pasta also SO DELISIOUS. Also perfectly good sangria! And last but definitely not least the stuff - professional, taking care of you, giving really good advices about the menu, knowing their food and trying to please every guest in a really nice and humorous way - the place to go, eat well, have a great time and wanting to come back. Thak you for this experince - sending love and not enough points, because it was 12/10 :)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stopped by Mercado Food and Drinks at the fish market because I was craving some fresh fish while my family was leaning toward McDonald’s. I ordered the monkfish rice dish for one, and it was absolutely flavorful and delicious. When my son (the McDonald’s fan!) tried a bite, he practically flipped out at how good it was — and ended up eating more than he’d planned! The food was fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of rich flavor. The port was also excellent value — just €4 a glass when many places in town charge nearly double. If you’re visiting the fish market, definitely stop by Mercado. You can even have them cook your fresh fish for you straight out the market stall. Highly recommend!

We had the most incredible time at Mercado food and drink. We met the wonderful Ricardo who led the way on our order. We ended up with small plates of prawns, cod, octopus, mussels, and barnacles, and then we had the full crab which the main body is made into a pate. We honestly were enjoying the food so much we began to worry we'd been taken for a ride 🤣🤣 and would be charged a bomb, but Ricardo seemed very genuine so we decided to just trust the process. Not only did we have the most amazing meal, Ricardo was exactly the kind and caring person we thought who genuinely wanted us to have an amazing experience!!!! We absolutely recommend Mercado Food and Drinks and Ricardo is incredible, we loved him!

How it works You select fish in the market, tell the stall owner you are eating in Mercado. They charge for the fish & they deliver the fish to Mercado, confirming it is for you. The restaurant prepare, & in our case, fillet it with expertise at our table The restaurant charge €6 (I think) per person to prepare, cook & serve it. You order extras like tomato rice, chips (not a good idea, I would call them crisps) which the restaurant charges for separately

Restaurant has a starter menu. We ordered Padron Peppers & Sauted Mushrooms

The restaurant is adjacent to the fish market. Fab concept.

We ordered white wine. Wine list lists bottles of wines for between €15 & late €20s. I also got a lovely rose brut bubbles glass for €4.50.

Service was efficient without charm.

Next time I am in Porto , I will definitely come...

A 10+ experience. Lots of places to choose from in town. Some rave reviews brought us here. Glad we went and got Ricardo as our waiter. The place is all about good food and service and making your experience special. We ordered many starters and a bottle of local wine Ricardo recommended. One of those places where the food is made with love and the staff a big part of this. Full by 9:30pm and jamming with locals who know where to go for good food. Don't let the menu prices scare you....we ate and drank all night for $40eu. Walking home all the other options we considered had empty restaurants...the Mercado was still packed with a waiting line. In my opinion....the place to eat when in the area. We'll return if ever we...
