We went here for dinner and we GOT SCAMMED.
We ordered a sea bass dish and beef cap dish which were both 15 euros each. We thought they were a bit pricey but we decided to have them anyway. A lady was serving us and asked me to choose potatoes or fries with my fish dish and based on how she asked me, I assumed I had to choose and it would be included with the price. She did not ask my husband to choose anything for his beef dish but when he got his dish it had fries anyway. The rice that came with his dish was dry and rock hard (we heard a microwave sound before we got our dishes so assuming they microwaved old dry rice). When we got our bill they charged the potatoes and fries (again, she did not ask my husband at all and added fries and charged for it).
We went to a different restaurant the night before and it was 12 euros for a big grilled chicken, olives and bread, a drink, french fries, salad and coffee so we know this is overcharged and we shouldn't have been charged for the potatoes (only 2 small ones) and fries. It's a TOURIST SCAM. AVOID GOING HERE FOR DINNER.
It's ashame as our parents live here and we visit them every 6 months so we are not even tourists. I heard they do a good deal for lunch but we will never go back there again and tell everyone about our experience and to avoid going there. They should be ashamed taking advantage of...
Read moreFirst time at Novo Titanic and it was very good. The ladies and young gentleman were very helpful and patient with our minimal Portuguese language skills. I recommend visiting if you are in Olhão and want to eat at a more authentic Portuguese restaurant only a few blocks from the touristy waterfront.
Update: So good we went back again. New specials today (of course) and tried the mixed grill (pork) - very good. We were not so hungry since it was quite hot so we split the plate - just right for our small appetites.
The food was excellent. We ate lunch and ordered from the prato do dia (plate of the day). I had the sardines (grilled) and my wife had the spaghetti & meatballs. The salad was a mix of tomatoes, onions, and sweet peppers. Both were well prepared and delicious. We were too full for dessert (sobremesa) but I did have a coffee (espresso).
Very good value at just over 20 euros for all. We will...
Read moreHad a nice lunch here, and lunch seems to be the way to go here. Lots of seating inside, and a bit outside. Seems pretty popular with the locals! I had one of their daily specials which was a stuffed squid. The dish comprised four large stuffed squid sections, a pile of fries, and some bread and carrot salad for the couvert. The couvert seems to come with the meal here and I was not charged extra, although like everywhere in Olhao you do get charged for water. Carrot salad was nice, bread is fine. The stuffed squid was really quite nice, very flavorful and filling. Sauce was tasty and not too oily. Fries were fine, although since they were served in the same dish as the squid, many were soggy from the sauce. Overall really good value for lunch, and service is great and friendly. Note that they do not take...
