Restaurante Frangus — Restaurant in Ourém

Recommended by a Portuguese colleague as a great local restaurant and a welcome change from the usual suspects. Fortunately, the staff speaks good English and is both friendly and professional.

For starters: cured cheese and deliciously rich olives, paired with a glass of sparkling Vinho Verde DOC—exactly how a Vinho Verde should be. And freshly baked white bread rolls.

The ambiance is a bit unusual. From the outside, it’s located in the same building as McDonald’s, but inside it’s new and modern, with a mix of wood and sterile white walls featuring contemporary art.

A pity that the next glass of white Alentejo wine wasn’t served in a clean glass. But let’s not make a fuss—still a fine wine at a reasonable price.

Then the main course (this time with a clean glass for the red Alentejo, which was a bit harsh and not really recommendable): a Countryside Board with pork loin and sirloin steak. Simply marvelous.

If I had to point out one small criticism: the mushroom & asparagus side dish was definitely more mushroom than asparagus. But after some digging, I did manage to find them.

Final verdict: I’ve been visiting Fátima more than once a month for the past two years, and there’s not much culinary excitement to be found. Frangus doesn’t quite match Apollo Privé or Dom Gonçalo, but it’s a strong third—and the price-quality ratio is certainly...

Simplesmente divinal!! A localização é ótima,a decoração e o conforto da sala é impecável o staff é excepcional muito simpáticos atenciosos 5 estrelas!! Agora vamos ao repasto,os pratos aqui são de uma qualidade muito muito acima da média de outros restaurantes em Fátima,doses na medida certa a comida muito bem confeccionada temperada muito saborosa com ingredientes muito frescos e de qualidade todos os pratos!! Mas aqui o frango é rei e que Rei simplesmente o melhor Frango assado no churrasco de Fátima certamente!! Un restaurant merveilleux situé à côté de notre hôtel. Nous l avons trouvé par hasard, avons hésité à rentrer...trop beau donc sans doute trop cher...grâce à dieu, Hélène nous a rattrapé sur le pas de la porte, nous a accueilli comme jamais, et cerise sur le gâteau parlait parfaitement le français ! Nous avons été agréablement surprise par une cuisine plus qu excellente, et tellement abordable ! Menu du midi avec olives apéritives, pain, boisson et plat tout compris entre 10 et 12 euros ! Une qualité de viande et de poissons grillés incroyable ! Nous en avons fait notre cantine pour tous nos repas ! Juste un paradis cet endroit !
