This is one of three above ground churches located at the Fatima plaza - the apparition sight of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The entrance is above ground but the MASSIVE church is actually underground. Also under the plaza is more chapels - two beautiful reflection ponds, maybe even baptismal fonts. The Church of the Most Holy Trinity is situated within the enclosure of the Sanctuary of Fátima, on the opposite side of the Basilica. It was inaugurated in 2007 but had been planned since 1973. In fact since then there had been the need to build a new church because the Basilica wasn’t large enough to accommodate the great number of pilgrims who wanted to attend services within the Sanctuary, on days of average turnout. The Church is a modern, round, white building, the color of the stone that covers it, a local stone known as “white of the sea”. This huge building is 125 m in diameter, with no intermediate support; it has a volume of 130,000 m3 and 8,633 seats and it can be divided into two areas by a moving partition. There are 76 seats for disabled people. Its architect was the Greek Alexandros Tomazis but other important artists contributed to this project. The 8 m high main door, for example, made of bronze and dedicated to Christ was realized by Pedro Calapez, the painted tile panel in the atrium of the Apostles Peter and Paul is by Siza Vieira, and the 34 m high tall bronze cross outside the Church, is by the German artist Robert Schad.

It is a beautiful building in the shape of a semi-circle that could evoque the memory of a pair of harms stretching out to receive you. The chapels are beautiful, especially the Chapel of the Aparitions. For its small size it has undoubtedly the highest level of visitors. It is the main building dedicated to Saint Mary. The pilgrims here have a very unique way of showing their devotion to the saint and demonstrating their gratitude for the positive outcomes in their lives, which they attribute to the saint. It is common to see pilgrims walking on their knees sometimes for miles to towards the chapel as a way of offering their sacrifice. Mass is also held here before thousands of visitors from an array of nations. There are amenities such as restaurants and cafes around making it easy for families to spend the entire day there. The musical atmosphere is again absolutely amazing as a symphony of recorded choir music surrounds the space, creating a soothing and calming effect that is highly effective in conducing to a state of...

A Holy Shrine, as it is well documented, that Our Lady of Fatima appeared to three children asking them to pray the rosary and offer sacrifices as many as possible for the sinners of the world.

I recommend visiting!

It is a place where devotion and faith are palpable.

Here, people come from all over the world to plead for the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima that God may grant humanity mercy, a favor, a miracle that will transform their lives!

I myself was not a practicing Catholic, but since my first visit to this Holy Shrine, I sure know that I have grown in my faith, as has also my relationship.

Love coming here to pray in the Chapel of the apparition where I know and feel I have a direct audience with the most blessed Holy mother of God, Our Lady of Fatima.

I exhort everyone to visit, for I know your life will be transformed! I will undoubtedly return as many times as my heavenly...
