It couldn't be very appropriate to narrate herewith personal emotions and goals of visit but to share some practical notes rather: if you travel there by car be aware of parking problems at weekends and during national holidays; it's hard, indeed, and especially close to the very square where there are some active beggars try to assist you with parking and by that provoking conflicts with other visitors (the police was out of place that time); do not worry about infrastructure and sanitary rooms - everything is properly organized and functions; there are a lot of different eateries close to this solemn place - for every taste and budget; very interesting solution with chandeliers for personal and collective candles; prices for them are very affordable; the information service, unfortunately, is weak, very weak; if you'd like to know some particular details, better read in advance by your own.

Read moreIt's a very bautiful basilica with the statues of Portuguese saints at its facade. Inside, there is a painting above the high altar that depicts the Message of Our Lady to the little shepherds. There is also the scenes of the apparitions represented in stained glass, as well as invocations from the Litany of Our Lady. In the four corners of the Basilica interior are placed the statues of St. Anthony Claret, St. Dominic of Gusman, St. John Eudes and St. Stephen, King of Hungary. The tombs of Francisco and Jacinta are in the Basilica as well as the mortal remains of D. José Alves Correia da Silva, first Bishop of Leiria after its restoration in 1920. I was not even aware that the tombs are inside the church. At first, I was just curious because people are crowding these two places near the altar. To my surprise, the tombs are there. Picture taking is allowed. The facade is grand and spacious. Will come back. Must visit to see the three kids who witnessed three apparitions of the Angel of Peace in 1916 and several apparitions of the Blessed...
