I’m not one to write negative reviews. However, unfortunately, my experience here was very lacking in customer service and my efforts to be understanding were met with rudeness. I was here with a group, we all ordered our items and when their’s came out, it was 15 minutes later until I asked where mine was. I work in the service industry, I understand that this stuff happens sometimes and that’s totally ok! However, after 20 minutes the server kept asking me why I didn’t have food and why I “didn’t want it”? I explained that we had to go and since I didn’t get my food it was too late for me to eat (we had something scheduled after). She said “but it’s ready!” pointing to the back, as if I should’ve got it long ago and I did something wrong..

At the end she apologized to me with a snarky tone and look on her face; I get the idea that she thought I had turned my food away. When I was just never served my food.

Just to be clear, I am not someone that usually makes bad reviews for any business; despite if I had a bad experience or if the food was awful. However, please DO NOT GO HERE. The servers may come off charming, but they are terrible people and have it out for tourists. Last night, I was parked outside of their restaurant and since I was the last one there, a worker from the restaurant (bald, tan, about 5’8) scurried past my rental car and keyed it. He did not try to communicate with me before this at all. I spent all of last night at the police station filing a report- but PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS of these workers. They don’t like tourists and they ARE out to get them. The snack bar across the street has much better food and much better prices, save your time and don’t support a business like this. We chose this place because the restaurant seemed quite full. The service was terrible, the waitress seemed to ignore us so after 15 minutes we had to go inside to ask someone to come take our order. The food was the worst we had tasted (not only in Madeira but far beyond). We ordered espada with prawns which came with 3 pieces of cooked tasteless potatoes and boiled frozen vegetables without any taste. The fish was watery and mushy, covered with red unidentified sauce, the prawns had an aftertaste. The second dish we had was mixed grilled fish - tuna too salty, second fish mushy and third edible but tasteless. House wine disgusting.
