Conchinha — Restaurant in Porto Moniz

A Conchinha – ★★★★☆ (3.5) A decent stop for a quick bite and a drink in Porto Moniz, but with a few highs and lows that balance each other out.

🔸 What we tried: • Poncha Maracuja – fruity (not fresh) and lacked depth. • Aperol Spritz – okay, but not very strong or balanced. • Tosta de Salmão – simple but tasty. • Salada de Frutos do Mar – fresh seafood but could use more seasoning. • Mojito – average; not very minty and too sweet.

🔸 Ratings: • Drink quality: ★★★☆☆ • Food quality: ★★★★☆ (closer to 3.5) • Service: ★★★★☆ – friendly and fast. • Restaurant setting: – Inside: ★☆☆☆☆ – extremely hot with no fan or aircon, very uncomfortable. – Balcony seating: ★★★★★ – if you can grab a spot outside, the view is lovely and the breeze makes all the difference.

From the start the signs were there and we ignored them. The table was so cramped you had to lift it for someone to sit in their chair as there was no space to push the chair back at all from the table.

Then the service - they are so woefully understaffed it's painful. We spent over 20 minutes trying to get their attention and this was after having 10 minutes to look at the menu.

When we finally got their attention, they said to wait a bit longer. They then started to take the order of a table next to us that had only sat there for 5-10 minutes. The table next to us even realised this and tried to tell the server but in the end their order was taken first. Eventually they got round to us, and of course in that instance, their machine stopped working and they disappeared off again to never be seen again.

Would recommend you go to the many other snack bars...

Found a larva in our salad!!!

This was one of the only restaurants in the area that had above 4 stars, and why we chose it. There was a short queue when we arrived and once seated, no one came to take our order for 20 min, it was clear they were very busy and short staffed but every time we tried to get their attention no one even made eye contact or said we will be right with you.

Once they had taken our order, which was two salads and the grilled limpets to start, the limpets came out, but then after an hour of being there, still no salads, while others who came after us got their food which was hot meals vs our salads.

Once the salads arrived after asking them, we found a yellow worm/larva in our salad and that was the end for us. They removed them from our bill but it ruined our lunch and ended up skipping...
