I love everything about this place. I spent 5 weeks in Porto and came here 6-7 times solo. It was my favorite neighborhood spot and weekly treat! Not your average wines, which is what I seek out - natural, small producers. I tried Vinho Verde here, other unique Portuguese options, French & Georgian wines, orange/skin contact, and some yummy whites and light reds. The staff are so lovely, friendly, down-to-earth, and inviting and are a huge part of what makes this place such a great and memorable experience.
The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, effortlessly cool and a space everyone can love and enjoy. Later in the evenings and weekends, it gets a bit more social. I met some great people from all over the world one Thursday evening - it definitely attracts great people who enjoy good wine when they see it.
The food was such a pleasant surprise! I’ve never been to a wine bar with such a great culinary experience - I expected charcuterie at most, but there is that and more. Cheers to the chef! The salmon, pork belly, goat cheese ravioli, and brownie were all so delicious!
On top of it all, Clemence recommended a contact for a more unique Douro Valley wine experience, opposed to the traditional/typical. She and her team are so fantastic! I will think about this shop for years to come… and recommend it to everyone I know visiting to Porto. Such a gem!
5€ for a glass of wine; I usually spent about 25€ or so for 2 glasses of wine and dinner. In my opinion, such great value for such a great...
Read moreWe arrived in Porto late one evening after a long day of travel. After dropping off our bags and freshening up, we happened upon A Cave Do Bon Vivant nearby and were welcomed in. We sat in the back covered patio and ordered some wine and small plates (prawns peri-peri and a charcuterie board). We had the freshly made deconstructed “snickers” for dessert. The food and wine and atmosphere were excellent. The service was incredible and felt like we were family. We met a local and continued to drink and snack til late.
We were so impressed that we made a reservation for Friday. They had a party inside and beautifully set up a table on the patio, with our names, welcoming us. Again, the service was excellent and friendly, the wine recommendations were amazing. We had the dips (hummus and a whipped cheese) as well as the prawns (so good with fresh fennel and coriander). For dinner we had the pork loin as well as a sea bream with Thai coconut curry. The food was so delicious. I think the menu will be updated regularly and would highly recommend dining here. Many thanks to the team for two wonderland memorable...
Read moreThe chalk board menu looked inviting so ambled in to check on availability. French manager was pleasant and welcoming. Dinner did not commence until 7.30 so we decided to wait and sample some wine. Was invited to sit outside in a terrace area. Sat for a while, quite a dreary setting among depressing high rise flats. Returned to the main restaurant taking a seat near the door. It all went wrong for me after that. The owner needs a few lessons on etiquette, manners and listening to himself sometime. He reached over my head 3 times to take a bottle of wine from a shelf above. No “excuse me”, or “sorry to disturb you”, no this is my place and I do as I please. He seems to think the world is interested in his knowledge of wines for which he has invented a totally new language. Verbal diarrhea. Taking photos of wine bottles and involving multiple folk in the process. He must be difficult to work for. I, for sure, abandoned ship in-spite of having waited an hour for dinner to commence.. I reckon the floor show continued for a while after that. Apologies to the manager,...
