Having booked my Portuguese vacation months ahead, I came across this place as a local favorite. Turns out it’s a better choice than many traditional Portuguese restaurants which typically have limited menus of five to eight “mains”, some salads or starters and dessert. Cafe Guedes has all the main entrees you’d want or need if you like Portuguese food but the sandwiches, franchenshinas and starters are the main reason to come. With about 15 choices of roasted pork and cured ham sandwiches with all kinds of awesome toppings like soft sheep cheese and caramelized onions, it’s the real Portuguese experience. We even broke out cardinal traveling rule and came back twice. The second time we had the shrimp tower. Featuring 10 large jumbo shrimp marinated in garlic and olive oil, it’s three times higher than most shrimp dishes in more traditional restaurants. We also tried a local Portuguese soup that was supposed to have pork liver and other innards but actually tasted like refried beans. (Delicious by the way) Additionally, the staff is very welcoming despite the cafe style seating and you can sit outside, across the street in the park square or on the rooftop. Promptly seated both times, food was fast and delicious and wait staff is helpful and friendly. Personally, it was my favorite place in all four days. Skip the fancier restaurants and eat here.

Wandering through the enchanting streets of Porto, my serendipitous journey led me to Casa Guedes Rooftop, a culinary haven hidden amongst the city's alleys. Ascending to the rooftop, I was greeted by a captivating blend of local charm and international allure. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the rooftop transformed into a magical space. Soft lights adorned the terrace, casting a warm glow on the wooden tables. The ambiance exuded romance, a perfect setting for an intimate evening. Nestled beneath a canopy of stars, the city lights twinkled in harmony with the lively conversations. Casa Guedes Rooftop presented a menu that bridged local flavors with international flair. Each dish was a symphony of tastes, meticulously crafted to delight the palate. The culinary journey was complemented by an extensive drink selection, featuring local wines and exotic cocktails that elevated the dining experience. The attentive staff at Casa Guedes Rooftop added a personal touch, guiding us through the menu and ensuring every moment was a celebration. Amidst the enticing aromas and the city's gentle hum, this restaurant became a transcendent experience, seamlessly blending local authenticity with global sophistication. Casa Guedes Rooftop is not just a dining destination; it's a romantic sojourn through Porto's culinary landscape.

Casa Guedes Rooftop was the First restaurant recommended to me by 2 different locals ( who never met ). So I had to try it out. First, I ordered a bottle of red wine from the Alentejo region in Portugal. I love wines from this region and it did not disappoint. Next, I told Pedro, my waiter, that it’s my first time and asked what MUST I have ? He pointed out the Roasted Pork and Soft Sheep Cheese sandwich. I thought this was perfect since I am lactose intolerant. I ordered it and it was very delicious and filling ! Juicy meat, crunchy bread, and the sheep cheese gave the right level of saltiness. Then I ask for dessert. He hands me a small menu. I ask which I should have. He points out the Egg White Pudding. I go for it. The dessert was so fluffy and light, with a hint of coffee taste. Delightful! I was sooo happy with everything, i wrote this review before I even asked for the bill! I want to come back before I leave so I can try more of what Casa Guedes has to offer !!

Casa Guedes is an absolute must-visit for anyone in Porto! The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal with friends. We started with the Burrata salad, a refreshing and flavorful dish that was the perfect appetizer. The creamy burrata paired beautifully with the fresh tomatoes and pesto. For the main course, we couldn't resist trying the famous francesinha - a hearty and indulgent dish that truly captures the essence of Porto's culinary scene. We split the francesinha as it is quite a big dish. To complement our meal, we ordered the La Passion sangria, a delightful and fruity drink that was the perfect refreshment. The service was exceptional, thanks to our wonderful waiter, Deco, who was attentive, friendly, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Casa Guedes is a standout restaurant that offers incredible food, fantastic service, and a memorable atmosphere. Highly recommended!

GOOD FOOD! TERRIBLE SERVICE! My friends and I decided to give this new Casa Guedes a try. When we arrived, we had to face a queue. Despite explaining my situation to the person in charge that I had a toddler (8 months) with us and if possible to give us priority. She didn’t! Instead, she gave us a table outside that was half in the sun ( FYI: the sun was really burning). Long story short, I tried to talk us out of the sun and was faced with a very rude and unprofessional waitress. I wanted to leave, but my friends decided to stay. The food was really good. We all had the francesinha Guedes and they were delicious. The sauce was spiced just enough. On the other hand, I ordered a bottle of white wine. We were not able to finish the wine. For they didn’t provide a cooler and despite attempting to get some ice, it never arrived. All in all, not the best experience.

We got the place recommended by friends, so our expectations were high! The reality was a bit sad tho. We ordered, Francesinha - fries - codfish ball & a beer. The beer took around 10min te be brought out and the food 30min. We were really excited to try the Francesinha, because we heard a lot of good things about it. When we got the Francesinha it was cold, so we asked the waitress if it was supposed to be cold. She said no and took back the dish to the kitchen. After couple of minutes they came back with the plate (see picture), steam came off but the insight was still cold. Don’t know what they did but I guess they used the microwave. When paying the waiter asked if we enjoyed the food, so we told him that the food was still cold. His reply: “oh sorry” and walked away. Long story short, we are quite disappointed!
