We found this restaurant totally empty on a Saturday night - and how lucky we were! By the time our main courses had arrived every single seat at every table was taken, mainly locals, enjoying great food and drink. Homonimo does a small menu of fantastic, authentic Portuguese food which had the taste of a home cooked 'cozinha'. We had three courses and wine, all of the dishes were great (the local cod main was overall not to our taste but we still enjoyed trying it, and the quality was still great) with generous portions and what tasted like top-quality, local and fresh ingredients. The wine was a lovely bottle recommended by the waiter. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed and full of locals having a great Saturday night, and the restaurant decor is stylish but charming. The staff were great, very friendly and not fussy or rushed despite every table being full. And when the bill came, we were surprised at how good value the whole experience had been. Read moreThis restaurant was a real gem! My friend and I are so glad we went. I am a meat eater and my friend is vegan and we wanted to be able to enjoy traditional Portuguese food together. This restaurant was absolutely perfect for that. I had the bacalhau à gomes de sá which was cod, potato, egg, olives, caramelised onion and olive oil. It was DELICIOUS. My friend had the vegan version of it which was made with mushrooms. We would recommend this to meat eaters and vegans alike, but it was especially good for us because it meant I was able to enjoy the local cod while my friend had a choice of multiple Portuguese dishes. Neither of us had to compromise. The staff were really friendly too, and my drink (lemonade with berries) was delicious. We paid €40 for two main courses, a lemonade...
Read moreNice place that combines modern dining with traditional Portugese food affordably. Everything about this place was excellent. It was the best food I had in Portugal and that is saying a lot because I felt that everything was really good. We had the clams and gizzards to start. Both were absolutely delicious. Don‘t be afraid of the gizzards. They are cooked in an amazing sauce and made so tender. Pro tip: order bread with the clams so you can soak up some of the sauce they come in. As an entre I had the tripe and it had such a complex and spicy flavor. Absolutely delicious! My wife had the cod and she lived it. The wine by the glass was inexpensive and excellent. The server was absolutely...
