Embarking on a leisurely stroll through Porto's cobbled streets, fate guided me to Casa Guedes, a culinary haven that beckoned with promises of eclectic delights. Intrigued by my first visit's enchantment, I found myself drawn to its magnetic charm once again.

Entering, I was greeted by an ambiance that seamlessly blended rustic allure with modern sophistication. The restaurant's warm hues and ambient lighting created an intimate setting, perfect for an afternoon rendezvous. As the sun bathed the interior in a golden glow, I knew this was destined to be another memorable experience.

Casa Guedes, true to its name, offered a culinary journey where local flavors danced in harmony with international flair. The second brunch unfolded like a love story, with each bite narrating a tale of culinary mastery. The pancetta, a savory masterpiece, tantalized my taste buds with its smoky richness, while the prawn tower delivered a symphony of coastal freshness.

The drink selection was a delightful complement, featuring locally inspired concoctions that elevated the experience. Casa Guedes, with its romantic ambiance and diverse culinary symphony, proved that the allure of this culinary haven was not a fleeting affair but a lasting love affair with Porto's...

Unfortunately this restaurant is a tourist trap! They charge you 3,50€ for a tap water bottle that you find already on the table on your arrival, it looks like complimentary but it’s not, and nobody inform you about the extra cost in advance.

Also, while you decide what to order having look at the menu, a waiter pass by and offer you a snack, it looks like a nice gesture but you will find it on the bill.

Food here it’s expensive for what you get.

Waiters give you their name and ask you for a good review of course BEFORE you receive the bill, that’s how I think they get all these positive reviews.

Our waiter was Gabriel and once we have issued the complaint about extra charges of water and snack he just was able to say: “sorry for this time” and he didn’t offer any type of resolution.

Open your eyes people, they look very nice and friendly but it’s just part...

Awful experience. From the moment we entered we were made to feel unwelcome. The waitress showed clear annoyance because we ordered many dishes. Starters arrived piece by piece, 8 croquettes were served 2 by 2 every 10 minutes. The shrimps were served dirty with the vein still inside, completely unacceptable. My octopus was inedible. The rest of the dishes were average to bad and did not save the experience. I work in the restaurant industry and I know what it means to be under pressure, but that does not excuse rudeness, poor service, and low-quality food. We have been to more than 25 restaurants in Portugal and this was the worst. The positive reviews do not...

This place is OK but there are so many other places with better food and service. We didn't have the best experience. We were welcomed in, and our order was taken quickly by a friendly waiter, but then it went downhill. Our food took 40 minutes to arrive. Other people that arrived after us ordered, got their food, and had paid while we waited. We ordered the Portuguese cod and the octopus. When it arrived, it looked good, but the octopus was quite tough, so I only ate about a quarter of it. The cod was nice, but there was not much of it. This dish was mainly peppers. As soon as they took our plates, we were handed the bill!

There’s a lot to like about Casa Guedes. The petiscos were delicious and fun to try. We had a bolinho de bacalhau with cheese and a roasted pork rissol with caramelized onions in port wine. The papas bravas were tasty. Sangrias were good as well. The chicken soup was basic but satisfying. The only disappointment was the chicken caesar salad. The chicken was tasty, but it was atop a pile of lettuce soggy with way too much dressing. That plus the fact there was no parmesan cheese made for a very weak caesar salad. I expect people aren’t going to Casa Guedes for salads, so it’s probably a non-issue for most 😁.
