I wouldn't recommend it even to my worst enemy. I understand that English is difficult and not everyone needs to know it, but for God's sake, ordinary phrases like beer should be understandable. Secondly, they served me an appetizer of sardines, it looked terrible!! Thirdly, choco fritto was the worst dish I have ever eaten in this restaurant. Believe me, the poor rating of this place is not a coincidence, there are plenty of places in Setubal where you can eat tasty food, but this place is simply terrible in every aspect!!! P. S. When I managed to explain to a waitress "how much I will pay for the entire meal including beer, she replied that the choco fritto set costs about 10 euros and beer is about 2 euros. However, when I asked for the bill I had to opay over 18 euros! I didn't want to argue because and so that no one would understand me. It's not nice to treat foreigners this way
please avoid this restaurant as far as...
Read moreWe had opted for the Salmon, but were told quite late that they had run out and instead chose the Sea Bream. The fish was grilled very well and tasted fresh, unfortunately the same can't be said for the 'Choko' ordered by our family, which came out chewy, the majority was left untouched. There was a huge delay in the Sea Bream getting to the table, we ended up waiting whilst everyone else at the table had their meals and almost finished before we got ours. However, the restaurant staff were kind enough to give us a free dessert of our choosing and were very apologetic.
We were quite a large group (of 14) and had reserved the table prior to the visit. Overall, I don't think I would return as Sétubal has a lot of restaurants, and I would prefer one...
Read moreReally wanted to like it. The interior looked very traditional, and menu looked like it could be good in this family run business. We ordered the traditional Cataplana de Marisco (shellfish stew) , pricey at €50, and some starters, side plates and nibbles. Being early on Sunday evening we pretty much had the place to ourselves with just a couple of other tables. Shortly after the food arrived an unholy row broke out within the family, with the Cook (grandmother?) having a proper go at the server (granddaughter?) over mobile phone usage...a right screaming match ensued during which it was difficult not to notice the absolute filthy clothes being worn by the Cook which didn't instill us with much confidence on food hygiene. The Cataplana arrived and was so unbearably salty that it really was pretty much inedible.....all that lovely sauce that you'd normally be mopping up with bread stayed in the pot. We left feeling underwhelmed, and certainly won't be returning. Such a shame, but with so many places to try in Setúbal why go back to such a place??? Maybe only to confirm our very worst fears, cos I'm sure the cook will still be wearing the same filthy clothes if I walk back in today!!! My advice is to avoid this one!
