De Pedra e Sal Hostel & Suites — Restaurant in Setúbal

Terrible experience. After ordering the staff completely ignored us (avoided my gaze when trying to signal them) for an hour until our food arrived - so no couvert or appetizer while waiting. The food itself was average - we ordered "A Pedra", the oysters and choco frito were okay, veal was rare as we asked but the cut was terribly chewy with sinew running all the way through the steak. The giant prawns were completely overcooked. The grilled veggies and the potato gratin were really tasty. 59€ for the main course for two is steep considering the quality, but at least the portion was big. When paying the waiter Pedro didn't let me insert card in the machine and instead of listening just grunted and snatched the credit card from my hand.

TL;DR Understaffed kitchen and bad service, food overpriced. Can't really understand how this place was packed and has 4.2 stars on Google Maps. Not...

I was hesitant to try this place because my choices based mostly on Google reviews since we arrived in Setubal two days ago have all ended in utter disappointment. But, if you’re a foodie looking for an inspired dining experience, this is definitely a place to try. We got the lamb and pork ribs which were both cooked in a small charbroil oven served along with roasted veggies, green rice and a side salad of fresh greens. Simple, but not basic by any means, all delicious. The sangria was so yummy and not too sweet, as were the smoked chocolate cake and moscatel pears. Beautiful unique presentation and interior with an open kitchen which made it all even more interesting, although outside looked nice too but was full on a Monday evening. Service lives much to be desired. I feel like I came to the restaurant to serve workers, not them serve clients.

I was in this place several times. Every time I gave a chance to the restaurant. Dishes are tasty, but a bit oily (I tried only steaks). My patience is limited. Because of the service I will not visit this place again!

Last time I came to the restaurant to order dessert and tea for two persons. It's around 12€, only 2 tables were busy. The waiter and the host said we will not serve you because you order just desserts. Before this case me and my colleagues had a big dinner for around 300€ the host was unhappy to have such a big company, almost throw cutleries and dishes on our table. I felt negative from waiters and arrogance.

Such behavior is not acceptable and doesn't bring to this place...
