Bello Rooftop — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

Ambience 10/10 Service staff 11/10 Food 2/10 Cocktails 4/10 Price 7/10 Firstly, the menu has changed - be aware many items on the review photos aren't current offerings. The location is great, the view of Porto is stunning both daytime and night time. The staff are smart, professional and friendly. Thats about where the positive review stops unfortunately. I don't mind paying €13 for a cocktail, but serving it in a wine glass with a piece of orange rind, bit of herb and an ice cube doesn't give you the experience you need from a venue like this. You're selling an experience when you put a restaurant on a rooftop. The francesca was so bad neither of us finished it (a first for me) and fries were so salty we were automatically offered a 10% discount on our bill. I did see other customers with unfinished plates also. The staff did ask for specific feedback for the kitchen, so maybe there will be an improvement. It could be so good but it needs a good mixologist to get the cocktails right and the menu needs some improvement both in the items and the execution from...

This rooftop bar looks beautiful from the outside, but the service is simply terrible.

Two nights ago, we had a dinner reservation for 8:30 PM. When we arrived, it was as if our booking didn’t exist. No welcome, no table prepared. We were eventually seated on low sofas, far from ideal for dinner. It took 30 minutes just to get the menu (after we asked for it), and 1.5 hours to get our food. Not a word of apology.

We decided to give it one last try tonight – just for a quick drink before dinner. There were several free tables, but we were told we couldn’t sit without a reservation. Ironically, it was the same staff member who had served us wine two days earlier. Apparently, not staying at the hotel = not welcome. And we had a room for 5 nights at the hotel…

I left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome.

This place may have nice views, but the service is arrogant, slow, and completely disorganized. Definitely not worth it....

I booked a week in advance to enjoy lunch here due to the view , which by the way was gorgeous .. they have a All day menu & Sunday brunch from 12. I wanted something on the all day menu.. only to arrive at 12:30 order a glass of wine and to be told that the all day menu is not available all day because on Sunday they have a brunch, therefore we had to have eggs Benedict and a salad ( which I think is boring ) with my wine … very very disappointing .. also for 5 star place and all the amazing friendly services orientated people I encountered on Porto this was not here.. I am soooo glad I did not book this hotel to stay.. its further out and just not on that service level you expect for this level .....
