Shanghai garden — Restaurant in Doha

Date Visited: 24 August 2025. Time @ 9.30pm Location: Barwa Tower Pax: 2 Cost charged: QAR 79 per person (Oriental + BBQ). I wasn't charged. They had no choice as i did not eat anything and went empty stomach back home. Food Service: Buffet (Oriental + Grill) Buffet: Dry, stale, Look and feel below ordinary Salads: No Greens or options provided Dimsums: Stale. Only chicken Saimoi looked appetizing Dessert: looked deserted in truest sense. Barely any options. No Ice-cream (how could they even call this buffet with no ice-cream at the dessert counter) :( Worst: Squids fry looked to be cooked 2 days ago...Dry, Drier, Driest....Felt like throwing up just the looks were demeaning to say the least. Showed it to captain and asked him would he consume this...the answer was as expected... Best: Chicken Sweet an Sour Soup (The only highlight of the show) BBQ Options: Beef slices. Ordinary (Charged QAR 20 extra for one dish) Drinks: Full of Ice. No normal water or normal juice served. The restaurant captain was informed and given feedback. he tried his best to cover up for the failure of the kitchen staff and asked me to order anything on the house. I ordered for Chicken chilly. The end product was absolute disgrace (Salty, could barely take one bite threw it out and returned the dish back to the captain). Reasons shared by the captain for lack of options and lack of food quality: This is weekday not many customers. Which was further baffling. Never ever have faced such low quality food in any restaurant in Doha/Qatar. Why did they keep buffet when they aren't able to maintain the standard of quality of food. Just go Ala-Cart. Fresh food cooked per order. No Drama No Messy tummy.

Summary: Do not go to this place and spend your time energy and money. You would end up with disappointment and more hungrier. After effect: Friend got upset tummy within 1 hour of consuming food.

Overall Rating: -0 (Minus Zero) if there was something below than those numbers would have...

This is my first time to eat in this branch. However, I have eaten at City Center branch already. Same with City Center branch, the serving is a bit slow even though there are lots of staff.

The food is good but not really amazing..if you are craving for Korean BBQ and hot pot, then try this place. It's justifiable for its price and the serving amount is good. Just like an other buffet restaurants, they offer lots of varieties of meats( Korean beefs to mutton to lamb), seafood, vegetables and korean side dishes. The food are fresh and clean. For the other foods aside for those for BBQ and hotpot, you will be given a piece of paper and you will have to check from there want you want and they will serve it to your table. For the BBQ and hotpot, you will be asked to get it for yourself. But make sure to wear your mask and gloves before starting your quick market shopping at the fresh food section.

The equipment for cooking are also well maintained and clean. By the way, feel free to ask the staff to have your bbq plate cover change as it easily gets burned.

The only thing we encountered is that they mopped the floor while we were eating and the smell of the mop instantly overwhelmed our nose because the smell of the disinfectant they used is too strong. I just hope, you will avoid this next time because it's not respectful to those eating and not hygienic too. There should be a time...

The tall guy is very accommodating i did not see his name badge and the chef as well, giving us more options, so the service for me is 90% because I’m waiting that they will introduce ask with their buffet menu and all, so we need to ask which is which but still okey all are doing their job in nicely manner, we came in late dinner thats why mostly of their food already dry but still i enjoy the meal a lot of dish choices although almost all container is little empty 😉, cucumber juice is too sweet and i cant taste the cucumber but the waiter he said only cucumber juice is fresh and rest is concentrated but still i enjoy the sweetness of the juice i like sweet after all. Nice experience, The ambiance and concept is amazing, interior was good, the arrangement of the buffet is classy i just don’t like the light its too deemed 😊the waiter is humbly informing as about the closing which is good, his approach is affectionately perfect 😉. I will still recommend because we came in late dinner so maybe during the opening all food was perfect,. All staff are good in approaching asking we still want more drinks is still available, dessert and sweets., Just try the experience as well. Im just happy with what i spend...
