I dread writing this review for a place that has offered the best desserts and pastries in Kigali for a long time, but I absolutely must. It's almost a public service that I'm obliged to undertake.

Amidst the blues of the quarantine season, I came across the BOGO offer for the chicken burger by Brioche and I was quite frankly elated. I mean who doesn't get excited about getting high quality food for an amazing bargain! Or at least that's what I thought I would get... The first mishap occurred with this experience even before the food came in, talk about foreshadowing. They informed me after half an hour of placing the order that they only accept Mobile Money, this could VERY easily have led to a cancellation. And don't even get me started about how enraging it is to not receive food that you are excited about and eagerly waiting for. Luckily I could call a friend and arrange some.

The rage of not getting food at all, however, would be minute in comparison to the one I was about to experience. The burger. My oh my the burger. The patty was undercooked and had mushy insides, the only sauce in it was KETCHUP, and they put pieces of RAW GINGER inside it! I would go on but I think this should be enough for a person to be able to avoid such nutritional blasphemy. It sounds unreal even as I write but I have a picture so you can get a snapshot of the revolting mess. Safe to say that the best part of that burger was the BRIOCHE BUN. The irony of this will have my life. Please stick to your amazing chocobomb-type desserts, Brioche, this...

Worst service ever!!! to say i was disappointed would be the understatement of the year. i was recommended to go there for the nice and relaxing environment there so i invited my friends and sister on a lunch date. We made our orders and they failed to tell us they didnt have ingredients for our orders and we had to wait for 3 solid hours, ai kid u not. We started thinking that maybe they hd forgotten about us so we went to inquire after our orders and that is when they admitted they do not have potatoes for the chips but they assured us to wait for 15 more minutes that they sent for them,,,,what do you know, we waited for another whole hour until it was closing time for restaurants due to the Covid restrictions. needless to say we are never going back. And oh we did not even get an apology for our wasted time...we left there with starved stomachs and bitter...

In reality maybe 3.5, but they should be alerted to the problems with staff's professionalism. I was interested in pastries, but the employee, who was assisting me, was unable to tell what the particular pastry was, even what the flavor was. I ordered two other pastries + cappuccino, but they tried to give me the previous pastry. I again explained what I wanted, but I finally got one of my own choice and the other not of my choice, but nominated by the staff. The cappuccino was OK - typical for the situation where the staff concentrates on the foam pattern, but not the taste. When I was summing up my order and when paying, the other employee, taking care of me by the register, was continuously on the phone in what did not sound as business calls. At some point she went to a speakerphone, so I was not sure whether she was talking to me or...

Excellent place to work. Fast wifi. Comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of outlets (2 prong, European standard). And decent music - lively but soft enough to not distract from conversation or work. Located just off the main road, entrance is not in the gas station complex, but to the right of brioche when you're facing it from the main road. The cold brew coffee was OK and the juice wasn't bad either. 3 stars for drinks, 4 for the service and excellent working atmosphere. Have not tried the food.

I like this Brioche. It's a much nicer atmosphere than the one in the shopping centre in town. Here, you can sit outside on a balcony. Granted, the view is mostly of a car park and a main road, but it still feels al fresco. They also have a sign on the wall saying 'Sangria, because you need more fruit in your diet,' which made me laugh. They do a nice selection of sweet treats and good coffee. They also sell decent bread, which is something of a rarity in Kigali. A nice place to sit and read a book.
