We recently dined at Restaurant Terrasse Farid in Dakar. The setting is indeed beautiful — just as described, an oasis in the heart of the city. The large, air-conditioned dining room opens onto a spacious terrace, and the ambiance was elevated further with live entertainment, including a belly dancer performance that added a festive touch.
To their credit, the appetizers were truly excellent. The mezze platter was flavorful, fresh, and authentically Lebanese — a highlight of the evening. From the cold dishes to the savory pastries and spiced meats, everything tasted just right.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short. The minestrone soup was overpoweringly spiced, containing a flavor unfamiliar in Lebanese cuisine — and I say this after dining at Lebanese restaurants around the world, including in Lebanon. The non-alcoholic cocktail called “Syracuse” was undrinkable — so sweet it tasted more like syrup than a beverage.
Most disappointing, however, was the mixed grill. We ordered it twice — once with the mezze and again as a main dish for our group of three — and both were served cold. The meats were dry, and the fries were equally unappetizing. We barely touched either plate.
I brought this to the attention of the manager, Yasmine, whom I had greeted warmly earlier. Her response was simply, “I’ll heat it for you,” which missed the point entirely — the issue wasn’t just temperature, but quality.
Terrasse Farid has great potential. The setting is charming, and the appetizers shine. But consistency and attention to main dishes are badly needed if they’re to truly live up to their promise of...
Read moreA Taste of Lebanon – Authentic and Delicious If you're craving authentic Lebanese and Arab cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit! From the moment you walk in, the warm ambiance and traditional decor transport you straight to the heart of the Levant.
The menu offers a fantastic selection of classic Lebanese dishes, from perfectly grilled shish taouk and kafta to mouthwatering shawarma. Their mezze selection is exceptional—every bite of the hummus, baba ganoush, and falafel bursts with rich, authentic flavors. The manakish with za’atar and cheese is a must-try, and their fattoush and tabbouleh salads are refreshingly fresh.
What truly sets this place apart is the quality of ingredients and the attention to detail in every dish. The mixed grill platter was perfectly seasoned, and the lamb chops were tender and juicy. To finish off, their baklava and kunafa were simply heavenly, paired beautifully with a cup of strong Arabic coffee.
Service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The portions are generous, and the pricing is reasonable for the quality of food.
Whether you're dining in or ordering for takeout, this Lebanese gem never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in delicious, authentic Arabic...
Read moreVery nice establishment which has its price but it’s worth it.
Since we visited during the month of Ramadan the only option was to have a buffet. We weren’t mad about it because it only gave us the opportunity to taste even more of the foods. And also it did not disappoint!
Very consistent, tasty Lebanese foods with great options for vegetarians as well! The atmosphere is airy, open and friendly / cosy like having an intimate dinner at a friends backyard.
I would definitely recommend this...
