I had the most unbelievable experience of my life as I dropped my iphone mindlessly in a hollow stub which belongs to the restaurant and couldn’t retrieve it. As I was going to organize some iron cutter in order to get to the phone upon my arrival back I found a note saying my iphone was waiting for me in the restaurant. The young lady working there has fished out barehanded and was just happy that she was helping me. I can’t describe how impressed and lucky I felt. Also this restaurant which I passed by many times without visiting has evoked deep nostalgic memories of my happy childhood in beograd as a kid where I have even sern Tito as Pionier children brigade. This time it has created a very special bond between me and this restaurant and I swear that I will revert at least once to enjoy the fantastic ambiance and view and of course the very delicious traditional food.
Пуно хвала од селог срца још једном целом туму .. велики поздрав из шбајџарске

Read moreKafana SFRJ is a hidden gem in Belgrade, tucked away near the riverside steps, and it delivers a truly authentic Yugoslav-style experience. The atmosphere is both nostalgic and vibrant—think retro decor, old-school music, and a laid-back vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era. It’s the kind of place where time slows down in the best way.
The beer is excellent—cold, crisp, and generously poured, with a solid selection of both local and regional brews. It pairs perfectly with the hearty food and the relaxed setting. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the staff. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seems to enjoy being there, which adds to the charm.
Whether you’re looking to unwind after a walk along the river or spend a long evening with friends, Kafana SFRJ is the perfect spot. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a taste of...
Read moreI tried this restaurant on a recommendation from a walking tour guide. He definitely didn't steer me wrong. This restaurant is pretty great. The decor and theme is from the time when Serbia was part of Yugoslavia. I loved the old school feel of this place. I ordered some spicy salami and the pljeskavica for my main. Both dishes were excellent. The portions were very big and I was pretty full when I left. The waiter was very nice and spoke decent English. I think this is not a very touristy restaurant, it seemed to be all locals. I was the only Asian person in there and the only English speaker but I...
