Look, guys. My wife and I just had one of those experiences that really makes you question why some places get the hype they do. You know how sometimes a restaurant has the perfect location, but the food... not so much? That's exactly what happened at the Burger House near Saborna Crkva.
Let me paint you a picture. My wife, who moved here from the Philippines and is still exploring Serbian cuisine with fresh eyes, was excited to try this place. I mean, who doesn't love a good burger? And the location? Perfect. Sitting near Saborna Crkva on Kralja Petra street, you've got this amazing view of one of Belgrade's most beautiful areas. But guys, that view turned out to be the highlight of our meal, and that's... that's not great.
The burger came out looking... well, promising enough. But that first bite? Pure disappointment. The patty was so salty it was like they were trying to preserve it for winter. And small? It was swimming in those buns like a kid in adult's clothes. The cheese – oh my goodness – was this thick, unmelted slab that belonged more in a sandwich from a gas station than in a proper burger joint.
And don't even get me started on the grease. Listen, I'm Serbian, I can handle my fair share of heavy food, but this was next level. My hands looked like I'd just changed my car's oil. The veggies? They must think we're on a lettuce shortage because I swear I saw maybe two pieces of lettuce and what might have been a tomato playing hide and seek.
Now, credit where credit's due – the fries were actually good. Like, legitimately good. And the coffee? Decent enough to keep me awake through this culinary disappointment. The service was... fine. Nothing to write home about, but they did their job.
But here's what really gets me – the price. For what they're charging, I could get two better burgers elsewhere in the city. It's like they think being near Saborna Crkva gives them a license to overcharge for mediocrity.
Look, I want to support local businesses. I really do. My wife even tried to find something positive to say (bless her heart), but even she couldn't finish her burger. And when someone who's traveled halfway across the world and is eager to try everything can't finish a meal? That's saying something.
Bottom line: Save your money. If you're in the area, take a picture of the church, enjoy the view, but get your burger fix somewhere else. There are too many good food options in Belgrade to waste your time and money here.
The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because of those surprisingly good fries, decent coffee, and the fact that at least the view gives you something nice to look at while you question your...
Read moreI went to BH hoping they would live up to their “Best burger in Belgrade” claim, but they did not. Let’s begin with the positive.
The waiter was great. He was fast, friendly, and attentive to our needs. Others have complained about service as did a couple who was at the restaurant when we arrived. The woman thought I was the waiter because I grabbed our menus upon arrival. She said they had been waiting to get their bill for over ten minutes when she finally gave up and went inside to pay. But, our staff experience was good.
The outdoor seating was also great with a nice area on the old city street.
But, the burger was not even OK. I ordered a BH burger but received a cheeseburger with too much melted performance cheese and so-so sauce. Not sure if they make their sauce, but it looked like the stuff I see at Metro. The burger patty was plain and lacked flavor that comes with the nice crust that comes with grilling or searing. The patty was also at least 15% smaller than the bun. When finished eating meat, I had a lot of bun left along with ½ a bland pickle. There was a little gristle and the patty was a little dense, but I think that is normal here. We asked for our burgers to be cooked to just barely medium, but they were well done instead.
The onion rings were most definitely not homemade and not worth the price. The five … that’s right … five onion rings were the smallest and most scrawny onion rings I have ever seen. They were an embarrassment to onion rings worldwide. Maybe, just maybe had they been five huge, fresh, homemade beer battered or Panko crusted onion rings I would have appreciated them more, but they still would have been overpriced.
I will not go back and take the chance of wasting my money for a burger I do better every time I make one. I grind my own meat, make my own bun and pickles, and fry my own onion rings or fries.
Sorry guys, I wanted you to be the place where I knew time after time I could go and get a great burger, but left...
Read moreI recently dined at Burger House Bros. Centar in Belgrade and had a chance to savor their classic beef burger and classic fries. Overall, it was a good experience, although it didn't quite reach the level of outstanding.
Let's start with the positives. The crispy fries were the highlight of the meal for me. They were perfectly cooked, with a delightful crunch on the outside and a fluffy interior. The portion size was generous, and I couldn't help but enjoy every bite.
Moving on to the classic beef burger, I have to admit it left me with mixed feelings. While it was undeniably tasty, it didn't quite stand out as something truly exceptional. The patty was cooked well, juicy, and flavorful, but it lacked that extra something special that would have made it memorable. The toppings and condiments were standard, and the bun was fresh, but the combination didn't create a lasting impression.
On the bright side, the prices at Burger House Bros. Centar were reasonable. I paid 1600 dinar for my meal, including a beer and a tip. It's worth mentioning that the beer was a nice addition to the meal and complemented the burger and fries well.
In terms of the overall experience, the restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere, and the service was efficient and friendly. The staff was attentive, and my food arrived promptly.
In conclusion, my visit to Burger House Bros. Centar was a good one, with standout crispy fries and decent classic beef burger. While it may not have been an outstanding culinary adventure, it provided a satisfying meal at a reasonable price. If you're in the mood for a casual burger joint in the heart of Belgrade, this place is worth a visit, especially if you're a fan of...
