The most beautiful and biggest park in Belgrade, at the same time is the most important cultural and historical complex. Where dominated by the Belgrade fortress above the mouth of Sava in the Danube. The complex of the Belgrade Fortress consists of the Upper Town, the Lower (or Water) City and the Kalemegdan Park. The upper town is the heart of the fortress, the last defense of Belgrade and the place where the commanders of the city lived. This is a nice place to relax, where the atmosphere is beautiful. In the Upper Town is located, Memorial winner, Great or Roman fountain, faucet Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic, Karađorđeva gate, Inner Stambol gate, there are the Military Museum, the Art Pavilion "Cvijeta Zuzorić", the City Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, a Zoo, a children's entertainment park, and a number of sports courts and good restaurants. The view from the Belgrade fortress to the mouth of the river Sava, the panorama of Sremska and Banat plains, as well as the mountains of Šumadija, leaves no one indifferent to anyone. It is worth visiting and enjoying the rich history of Kalemegdan.

This is (in my opinion) the main sight i Belgrade. Its the old fortress that has been here since forever. Its located on a small hill overlooking the point where the Sava river meets the mighty Danube river. Its obvious this is a saugt after point to control the merchants as well as the city itself. Occupied by virtually all peoples that you can come up with. It became true Serbian around 1870 when the Turks finally gave up their siege of the area, and with it disapperad the strategic significance it had for centuries. During the 19-hundreds a park were added and the military started to gradually leave the fortress, and now it seems completely. Museums, small souvernir shops and a great picnic area awaits you. A good place to meet fellow tourists and a few locals as well. A visit to Belgrade is not complete without a visit here!

Large park with old shady trees covering the top of a hill, around the Belgrade Fortress. The fortress itself is actually located in the park. It worth visiting mainly for the views over Belgrade. The most spectacular sight is the confluence of Danube with Sava River. Cruise ships mooring at the Sava quay and various boats floating lazy on the Danube can be spotted from the park. There are some kiosks here and there from one can buy beer, soft drinks and popcorn. Watching the sunset from a bench in the park, with a can of local beer in one hand and some popcorn in the other was a relaxing experience. While strolling in the park, we discovered some interesting statues, like the one of a fisherman fighting a snake. Overall, it's a good place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The park is large and provides numerous scenic spots ideal for picnics, making it a favorite for families and friends looking to enjoy a day outdoors. The panoramic views are simply breathtaking, offering stunning sights over the city and the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. One of the best aspects of Kalemegdan Park is that entrance is free, making it an accessible destination for everyone. Inside the park, you’ll find convenient amenities like drink fountains, ensuring you stay refreshed during your visit. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, Kalemegdan Park is a must-visit for its natural beauty and historical significance.

Kalemegdan is a historical place, centuries old fortress. There are a couple of things you can visit there - statue named Pobednik, Rimski bunar, Museums, Barutana (where you can see many grave stones and statues dating almost 2000 years!), Dinosaurs park for kids, etc. The view from Pobednik is breathtaking, do not miss it, especially in sunset. There are guided tours where you can learn about the history of the place (try googling Beograd ispod Beograda). It's also always nice to go to Kalemegdan just for a walk or to chill and have a picnic on a grass. For those who are more into restaurants, there are a couple of those as well like Kalemegdanska Terasa or Boho Bar. Overall, a must place to visit when you're in Belgrade.
