Konoba & Wine Bar Tata Mata — Restaurant in City of Belgrade

This place is AMAZING. Extensive wine list with regional and local delights, Seafood-focused menu with inventive takes on traditional recipes and ingredients (mostly) from nearby. Our waiter was up front and honest about what was wild caught, farmed, or frozen. The special was a type of razor clam, which we ordered grilled. They were fresh, simple, and delicious. They brought out a small bottle of nice Istrian olive oil for us to try with the clams and our bread and it was so good: fresh and bracingly strong. We ordered monkfish and a lobster pasta for our mains, and they continued to delight. The monkfish especially was very fresh tasting and perfectly prepared. Food is amazing and fresh. All praises to the chef. However, 3 stars are given because of the experience as a whole. The waiter was really pushy and unpleasant. Giving recommendations is ok, but pushing someone into changing their opinion MULTIPLE TIMES with no reason whatsoever is not. Out of 6 people on two separate occasions wine was poured for 5 only (leaving someone's glass always empty). So, 5 stars for the chef and -2 because the waiter left 3 people irritated, which kinda ruined the whole experience And worst of all, the menu was provided only when we demanded it, the waiter insisted that we follow his recommendations before even giving us the menu to take...

Unfortunately, our first time visit and dinner in Tata Mata restaurant was a great disappointment. Food quality was average, grilled goat cheese and grilled octopus were ok, octopus as a very small portion, and to smallish pieces of see bass for the main course. We took one of the cheapest vines on the vine list. The charge was more than 100 euros. For two people. Not to mention that listed price in the menu was 3000-6000 rsd for 1 kg of first quality fish, and we got (as they claimed) 500g for 6500rsd. Do not ask me how they calculated that.
