Sarajevski ćevap „To je to“ — Restaurant in City of Belgrade

It looked interesting based on description and photos but in the end, it was mostly disappointing. The place itself is fine, although the tables and seats are uncomfortably low (like for children only). The staff nice and friendly too. However: the food was definitely not the worst thing I ever had but it was far from good. Taste itself wasn't that bad but overall it wasn't good either. It would be just "acceptable" if not that it actually smelled somewhat like burnt plastic (my wife says that's how the plastic handle of the frying pan smells when it's getting to hot) and had an aftertaste and aftersmell like if it was done on a very old, overused and multiple times "overheated - chilled" low quality frying oil. Food experience was alright but the rest was a disaster. We are almost in 2023 but this restaurant does not accept cards, only cash. Be aware of this fact because they will encourage you to go an exchange office or atm to get the money at a rainy cold belgrade weather, even though there ISN’T a single warning that says only cash. They are smart enough to add english explanations on the menu but not enough to point out the only cash bull. At the end, after stepping outside to a very cold weather and back in where my wife waited for me inside the whole time, they finally offered to accept my turkish lira. The people working here are super nice and friendly. I really loved the ćevapi — it’s a special kind of grilled meat from the Balkans, and it was full of flavor! The smell from the grill, the soft bread, the chopped onions, and the fresh salad all go together so well. You can make it even better by adding kajmak (like a creamy cheese) and ajvar (a tasty red pepper sauce). The 200g size is perfect if you’re hungry, but they also have a 100g option if you just want a small taste. And if you like beer, it goes great with it. This place is 10 out of 10 for me!
