De Gusto — Restaurant in City of Novi Sad

This place is not quite a complete disaster as it provides a rare opportunity to taste alright seafood in a very landlocked city. However that is where the positives end.

Meat dishes such as steak are not treated with respect- they are swimming in some form of salty gravy and served with frozen fries.

Waiter appeared extremely stressed and when walking away from our table muttered to himself “why make things easy, when you could be difficult?” To my knowledge the only thing we had done “wrong” was to request an English menu. He was also presumably unaware that I would understand his Serbian comment…

The meal-salads (Obrok salate) are disappointing beyond human comprehension. I do not know why anyone would pay €10 for one of those things even in Belgium, never mind in Serbia. Maybe if I were starving in the middle of the desert. Extremely little meat, salty dressing and strange misplaced spices.
