Hotel Centar — Hotel in City of Novi Sad

Excellent location, for all the facilities of the city - and a short walk from the train station. Ample choice for the breakfast. A good night's sleep especially compare to Belgrade City Centre. Well that's the positive things out the way . . . the hotel is a little bit dated, despite being redecorated. Stained carpets, grubby bathrooms with crumbs and hair on the floor and drawers in the bedroom area. Foyer is full of flies, and furniture with cigarette burns, obviously deep cleaning, or even an inspection, after Covid was not on the agenda. It is overpriced, certainly by EU standards, even by Yugoslav standards I would still say it was disappointing. Staff were pleasant enough but seemed to be worn out as well. Would I stay here again with my wife? . . . definitely not, far better places to stay near by. Would I stay here again with my co-workers? . . definitely not, there are better places to impress or cheaper places to work from and do business. I was planned to stay on this hotel on December 31 2021. Since i had affected with COVID, i couldn't travel and need to cancel my reservation. But they have charged the full amount from me even after i presented the covid test result. The other hotels i booked for the other days during my trip had cancelled the reservation with out any cancellation fees. I had even requested them to at least charge any cancelation fee and not the full amount. Even they have charged me for the breakfast i am not going to ate. First time in this hotel, and I really liked it! The room was neat and spacious, I liked the available kettle, tea and coffee that was on the house. The bathroom was very clean and the room quite well furnished, suitable even for longer stays. I also appreciated that among the available TV programs there were also channels with English content. The breakfast selection was good in my point of view. The hotel is located right in the middle of the city, just a few hundreds of metres away from the old city center, a beautiful area with nice architecture, many cafeterias and small restaurant that have both inside and outside sitting.
