From the main road the place does not look too bad. The menus displayed by the roadside promised a good variety of food options - but did not show any prices. You will only see those after sitting down at plastic tables in front of the large wooden hut where the food is prepared. But boy - this place is expensive, by no means La Digue takeaway level! Wife had fish and chips for 300 SCR - about double of the usual price. According to her the worst she has ever had. I tried and can confirm the frying oil taste overwhelmed everything, and the fries were cheap frozen ones, not good at all. I had the octopus curry, and while the sauce was tasty, the animal itself was so rubbery it could barely be chewed - to the point of being hardly edible. This treat was a pricey SCR 400! As soon as we were finished eating the check landed on our table. In summary- better go elsewhere. For these prices you can have a really great meal in a wonderful atmosphere at Le Repaire,...
Read moreWe ordered fish soup, chicken soup, fish fritters, and chicken fritters for starters.
The sources for the dish soups were incredible. A perfect mix of flavours, spices, and garlic.
The batter on the fritters was so light it was possible to to eat without feeling nauseous as can happen with some thick batters.
We then had mains. The vegetable curry was fresh and crisp with balanced flavours.
The cheesy tuna pizzas were very tasty, and the carbonara was one of the nicest I have ever tasted.
Glorious food at reasonable tourist prices for Seychelles.
The boss/chef came out to chat with us so we were able to commend him personally for his cooking skills…
We highly recommend this restaurant.
We didn’t check out the takeaway menu, but I would imagine that the quality would be the same there also…
Go and give it a go, and if you don’t agree you can always leave your comments...
Read moreIt is a bit difficult to notice that this is a restaurant when you pass by on the street. A single sign nearby indicates its existence, and it is not easy to notice it.
The restaurant has more waiters than diners, and it makes the dining experience a little strange when only you are being stared at. The service here is a bit messy, out of a fleet of waiters, only one waitress serves the tables, the rest simply inform her who is looking for her.
The dishes are served very kindly, but very greasy. The taste is reasonable. We ordered chicken noodles and curry vegetables. The chicken was not tasty, and the curry rice did not deliver the goods. And to be honest, the restaurant gave us an upset stomach that kept us in the room for a whole evening.
We paid 750 Seychellois rupees for the two dishes and a soft drink. Not cheap and not at all sure...
