Sibuya Urban Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Alicante

This place serves all the favourites that you find in typical Japanese restaurants in Europe, plus a few interesting twists, all prepared and served really nicely. The menu is REALLY extensive. I definitely recommend looking through it online before you arrive, so you don't end up repeatedly asking the waitress to come back in a few minutes whilst you try to get to the end of it, and then try to work out what to order! We liked the funky decor and atmosphere, but the music was a bit random. If all the people in the restaurant are middle-aged (which was the case for most of the time that we were there early evening!!) then perhaps stick to the ambient chill music, rather than switching to some club dance soundtrack! Also, an awful lot of the nice looking crockery was extensively chipped around the edges. Both of which detracted a bit from the experience. However, I would definitely come back here...

Sushi for me is the art of creating fresh ideas of items that work well together. Sibuya has good items but they are so rigid on their items that NO room for accommodating to request or dietary restrictions. They can ONLY take out of the rolls but not to add. We are gluten free and dairy free and sushi is the perfect food. Almost every roll has cream cheese which they would take out of the roll but not replace with something else. They also have a roll with panko fried shrimp, which is good, but they would NOT allow to replace the fried shrimp with normal shrimp (ebi) keeping all other ingredients. It gives the impression that the rolls are pre-made or the people working there don't have experience preparing rolls, they just follow instruction. Where the art of sushi gets lost. Food was okay, for a place that looks fancy I thought the food would also be at a better standard, it was very bland. Service was chaotic, when you needed something you had to get their attention. But the big red flag was that they added 3 extra desserts to our bill so 20€ extra, luckily they didn’t discuss with us and fixed the issue but I couldn’t help but feel this should never happen as the waiter/waitress should check the bill before handing it over. May I also add I had soya sauce spilt all over my top and jacket from the waitress, she attended the issue quickly and cleaned the sauce of my clothing, mistakes happen and I appreciated she was attentive, the male waiters however seemed a bit slow as if always waiting for the female waitress to tell them what to do hence the...
