Reina Victoria El Mercado — Hotel in Alicante

Don’t stay here. The hotel has the worst customer service. First it’s on a super noisy street Main Street so good luck sleeping with the traffics s street noise. But, what is worse is we booked this a. Hour before arriving in Alicante looking for a place to stay. Seemed ok. We entered the room and it smelled so strong of chemical perfume fabric spray or laundry detergent or something that it was so overwhelming that could hardly breathe. Tried to open window to air it out but then the noise. They changed the bedspread which was the worst but still didn’t help. So no way could stay there. We didn’t use the room at all so they didn’t have to clean it. We’re were literally there for 10minutes while the person was changing the sheets to see if that helped. The manager refused to give us any refund saying should have told them we don’t want chemical fake perfume sprays and that it is normal which it isn’t cause every hotel knows you don’t put heavily scented sprays in rooms because people have allergies etc. So why would we think to even ask that. I was even ok with 50% refund even though we didn’t stay there and literally booked it an hour before and they could resell the room and didn’t have to clean it. They then tried to say we opened some bottle or wine which a)we didn’t even see, and b)certainly didn’t open since we don’t drink. So they used this a fake lie and excuse not to refund us anything. The worst experience. Don’t give them...

My reservation was 20-24 October 2024. On 19th October, I had a hospital emergency which made me unable to travel (from the U.K) I let Reina Victoria know the day before that I cannot travel anymore and asked for a refund. I'm aware that according to their T&Cs, I wasn't entitled to get a refund, but it was an emergency situation and they could have shown some empathy...Instead, they are nothing but greedy profit makers and I'm pretty sure that they sold my room straight away to someone else, doubling the money. Their customer service was rubbish from the beginning, replying no more than 2-3 words...Glad I haven't...

The room was large and nice and we liked that it was on the fifth floor. Wifi was not great though. Loved the AC. However, I had requested early check in, and they confirmed. But when we got there, he acted like I was the biggest idiot for thinking we were checking in early. Atleast they let us leave the luggage in the reception (which was at a different hotel for some reason). They also had a app key system, which I hate. But they left a key card in the room, thankfully. Ok placement, close to many restaurants and shops. Don’t think I would stay here...
