A hotel I had high expectations for, but unfortunately not all were met. Firstly, in no way can I fault the staff. Some of the most helpful and professional I have ever met in my time travelling. My girlfriend unfortunately lost jewellery (we are unsure where or how) but as soon as it was mentioned to staff they made the necessary phone calls to the cleaning team to reassure us. Breakfast at the Triglav Hotel is a fixed menu as it is situated in their renowned Restavracija 1906. I tried a range of dishes and all that I had was very nice. It is however slightly unfortunate that some of the more simple options, buttered toast for example are not for offer, as someone who isn't a really a breakfast person. The hotel offers all guests access to it's pool and Finnish sauna. Unsurprisingly at all points when we used the pool, it was just us - likely due to the fact it's the middle of summer on a lake... Lastly to the rooms, and this is where my disappointment came about. The hotel theme is very traditional, and this can be seen literally everywhere throughout the hotel. Usually I would have no problem with this but when it comes to form over function, I do. The fridge is kept hidden in an old wooden desk, where it would seem the airflow isn't the best as there is constantly water sitting in the bottom. The beds were quite hard, not meeting the 50/50 of most hotels but worse still because they were twins, not a double, they constantly slide about on the wooden floor when you get in and out of bed. Sink is large, with great water pressure and some of the best drinkable water possibly in the entirety of Europe. The shower was okay, also large but with adjustable folding screens. It is worth mentioning that the shower will cool down while it's on hot, this I assume is due to the hotel being eco/green awarded - not a problem for me personally. The same cannot be said for the toilet though, which splashes water out onto the floor when you flush so be prepared with the mop and bucket. By far the biggest inconvenience, which soon turned into an actual annoyance is the WiFi. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just slow. That's fine. I didn't come to Lake Bled to stay at the hotel on WiFi but it's the fact that several times, every day; throughout the day the WiFi will just go. It has happened multiple times during important moments meaning we've had to reschedule activities. Any suggestion of doing work away, while the weather was bad quickly went away due to how unreliable it is (literally right now writing this review in the hotel the WiFi has disconnected). I'm not sure if it's part of some scheme to keep costs down or to disuade usage, either way unfortunately it has gone from a small complaint to an actual deterrent. There is of course some positives to the rooms. To all who stay here I highly recommend getting a balcony with a lake view. Whatever the additional cost over a standard room, I can almost guarantee it will be worth it. The air conditioning in the room worked a treat and was very straightforward to use, always a positive when staying somewhere in the summer months! Finally, something often over looked is the amount of light switches in the room. I was genuinely surprised by how many there was meaning that you are always able to turn on some form of lighting. To conclude my review, I feel the need to explain my rating. Three stars seems very harsh for an overall positive experience. If I could make it a 3.99 stars, I would but I cannot give it four just because of the constant inconvenience of the WiFi. It feels overly petty for that to be the main reason; but in today's world, where everything requires a connection - making it as simple and stress free as possible to get on and enjoy one's trip is essential. You wouldn't stay somewhere that didn't offer some form of internet package, so constantly being disconnected does impact my overall thoughts. If anything I hope this can be taken as positive criticism. A minor revitalisation to the hotel. A little more modernization but without losing any charm.

The location is very picturesque and the hotel is fine, not perfect but totally acceptable. Our shower was scruffy and broken at tbe bottom for example. However, the hotel only offers fine dining with a very limited menu (6 courses per evening) which is expensive and will not suit all guests. 3 courses and 2 drinks will cost at least €130 for a couple. This caught us out on the first evening and we didn't eat there again. The hotel is around 2km from the town so eating elsewhere could be difficult for those without transport, especially in bad weather. As it turned out we had really good weather and so eating out wasn't a problem. If you do decide to eat elsewhere check that the menu has prices on it, most restaurants just show a menu without prices! They suck you in with the offering then sting you with the bill. There are a couple of places on the opposite side of the lake that offer good value for a hearty meal, which you find the locals dining in. Also there are no prices for drinks or the mini bar so assume they are extortionate. A bottle of wine in the hotel starts around €22 and rises to several hundred, a bottle can be bought from the local mercator for a few euro. If there was a better choice of food available I would rate higher, my issues were a complete lack of choice and the price! They assume you are a tourist with bottomless pockets and take advantage, especially as you are out of town somewhat. The only other drink than wine they had priced was a gin and tonic for €13. The beds are ok, the quilts/sheets are a bit strange. The double beds have 2 thin single quilts and the choice of a blanket as well , I found this a bit odd and got tangled several times a night, not a massive issue but did disturb sleep.

After a long drive from Croatia, we booked in this charming hotel. We booked a room with balcony and view of the lake. I sent email to confirm about one month ago. Unfortunately the room has a balcony that looks directly at tree blocking the view. Room 203. Tried to change the room but was told fully booked. It is disappointing consider how expensive the room is. However, the owner was able to make it right for us on our last nite stay, they offered an upgrade to a Junior Suite with an unobstructed view. This was perfect! The hotel has a lot of history so don't expect modern furniture or deco. The pillows are ultra soft that have to ask for more. The safe has to be reset to get is working again. The breakfast was really good. Not buffet style, you order all u want from the menu. The older gentleman that served us for 2 mornings was very polite and helpful. The view from the dining room was spectacular!

Our experience of this Hotel doesn’t seem to sit inline with the other reviews on which we based our booking on. We drove from the UK with lake Bled our must see furthest part of the adventure. This hotel looked perfect and review superb so we booked.

Upon arrival, excited we parked the car and popped into the hotel to let them know we had parked and we were an hour early. “Room not ready” was the only thing the lady said. (Even though Booking.com had 7 rooms still showing available). We spent the day at the lake and kept the bags in the car and got changed in the car park.

That evening we checked in and made it to our room. 2 single beds??? Knowing we are a young couple. Again plenty of rooms on booking.com. Had we known this we would have paid the extra for a room with a double bed.

The rooms were clean. The beds were not comfortable and the mattress low quality spring with a thin mattress topper.

The biggest problem is that the thermostat in the room glows up blue and can’t be turned off. We tried hanging towels over it but couldn’t make that work. And just compounded the poor experience of the hotel from the start.

Breakfast was passable. Eggs Benedict served on a piece of thin white piece of bread from the shop. Not even a fresh loaf cut or a muffin?? Come on chef take pride in your work!

Overall for our experience we were so disappointed we couldn’t check out fast enough to drive to Austria for the text leg of our adventure.

We would not recommend this hotel.

Edit to reply:

Thanks for the reply. I stand by my review and if you look at my review history hardly ever leave poor feedback. However I stand by my review and rather than focusing on the fact we drove to you as our destination only to be disappointed you chose to say I was not picking.

It was an honest review of poor, cold service we received from the people we dealt with.

Eggs Benedict on a piece of bread from a supermarket, come on you can’t say that’s acceptable for a 4* hotel. Not even a fresh loaf c cut, it was a pre cut bit of cheap thin white bread.

Parking was great as you pointed out and helped with our decision to book with you. We booked a standard room which had no option of beds so imagine our surprise when we had two singles.

Upon leaving why would we challenge you and stand there to give you feedback which is not our job as guests, we paid you to stay remember. You asked us in your email post visit to review our stay which...
