Our table of six arrived and were welcomed kindly by the lovely staff. The view over the lake was spectacular! Our group had a bunch of dietary restrictions, so I'd chosen this place deliberately as it prides itself on "Understanding dietary challenges and modern eating habits". So I was quite disappointed when the couvert - the bread and dips - were brought out (which we didn't actually order as we'd decided the four courses would be plenty for us, but I understand there are different customs around this). The vegan option for this was the same as the non-vegan option, except with less; instead of being given a vegan alternative, the non-vegan elements were simply removed (i.e., instead of two dips like everone else, or twice as much of one dip, we simply got one dip). The gluten-free bread was the most basic supermarket gf bread, toasted - I'd expect more when I'm paying ~85eur/head in Slovenia. The rest was fine, the vegan 'options' (there weren't really options on the vegan menu, just one set menu) were nice but nothing to write home about, and the vegan/gluten free main of mushroom risotto was an option I'd expect to find in any basic restaurant in terms of originality, quality, and presentation. Again, just quite disappointing. The presentation of most of the other dishes was great though, and everyone had a lovely time. The vegan dessert was delicious. Then we paid, and I had to pay in 50s... I didn't get a choice about tipping - they just took the difference (I think it was 30eur) and never came back 😂 We waited about 20 mins but didn't see another memebr of staff, so we just got up and left. We actually had planned to tip more than that, but when they didn't give us a choice about it, I left with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth about it.
Overall, it was fine, and if you're not looking for a place that caters to various dietary requirements, you'll likely have a lovely time! Enjoy the friendly staff, well-presented dishes, and lovely view! I mostly felt a bit cheated that the vegan menu cost the same and was half as good - half as many options, half as interesting, half as much food for some parts. I've been vegan for more than a decade, so I know it can be done very well, and...
Read moreFood was terrible. Lowland menu. We had the full course,1) Cute 3 pumpkin, neither had any taste, no salt. Shrimp was a whole shrimp, not much taste, the leek and cauliflower thing had no taste either. The fish was somewhat raw and not hot. The only decent thing was the vegan-potato. Had higher hope for the dessert, it was a gin icy, the bread thing on the bottom had no taste either, it was aweful!!! They serve the dessert with a round jelly thing had no taste and it was like a gummy chew. Aweful dessert. Service: 1) one of the waiter got so angry about the menu standing behind the bar and from where I was sitting i saw him getting so angry that he threw the menu and mumbled some words. So un professional. 2)I read the review people said the waiter didn’t clean off the table, I thought perhaps they had a bad day. Sure enough, they never took away our butter rock, our utensils were all left on our table. When they brought our dessert, they never brought a new spoon. 3) the worst was when we all decided how many dishes we decide to have, my husband and I did the entire 8 dishes. My daughter did the entire vegetarian menu of 5 plus 1=6, my sister ordered 4 dishes. So the water screams out: “so ok, first dish we will serve 2.. 1 Vegy, 1 soup, second dish we will serve ….. oh my goodness, it wasn’t a complicated order and something like this he could have figured out In the back. I kindly reminded him, 3 of us are taking the entire menu…, but he wrote down which dishes to serve when one at a time saying it so loudly. If this wasn’t a Michelin Recommanded, I’ll be fine with it, but this is a Michelin Recommanded!! I saw a guy walking in the restaurant with a jolly face as I did. After he ate his first dish, his face wasn’t too jolly. After his 3rd dish, his face frowned like mine. This hotel had one restaurant and this is it!!!!! Soooo disappointing don’t go, you...
Read moreShoulder season so that can impact on more than one thing.
Service was hit and miss. Wine selection was a faulty tower comedy. Sorry don’t have that one, sorry don’t have that one either, what do you have? that one! sorry we are out of that one too.
Then I gave up on wine and just asked for a glass of sparkling which they took off the bill which I appreciate.
I also was not offered any water but that’s easily remedied.
At least the food was tasty if not amazing by fine dining standards Rabbit starter was prepared well but not complex. Warm starter of sea bass was again well prepared looked pretty and I liked it at the same time for fine dining it is on the entry level. Black cod main had under seasoned potato terrine and over seasoned cod in a slightly too gelatinous sauce. Blueberry dessert had good sweetness and texture from the base and good ice cream with it.
Decent but you pay for the view in this restaurant so make sure you have a window table.
It was the most expensive meal, even without the wine, it was not the best in 3 weeks...
