Would I do the trip again knowing what I know? Probably not. Would I recommend to a friend? Probably not.

There is not much to the boat trip over. It takes 25 minutes to get to the island. The “captain” of our boat did not say one thing to us on the row over or back. He could have made it very entertaining by telling tales of the island and lake - he didn’t. In fact, my wife asked him how many trips he does in a day and his response was “as few as possible.”

The island has few things to see on it. All have additional charges to get in. My wife and I walked around the island twice and then waited for the boat to take us back. You ave 1 hour on the island. Is it with the 20€ to go over and see it? Probably not. That would be your call. We would probably not.

I can’t imagine going to Lake Bled and not visiting Bled Island. The Plenta Boats are adorable and well maintained. The views on the ride to the island as worth the trip and the lake was a fairytale blue-green.

The trip was 12 euro a person for the round trip (as nice as a gondola ride and cheaper). They say you have 45 minutes on the island, but really you can wander back to the Plenta dock at any time and they will bring you back to shore. No one is timing you. You can buy the tickets ahead of time online, but if you don’t you need cash euros.

If you are of an athletic bent or want to spend more time on the lake you can also rent a rowboat to get to the island, but I would definitely recommend the Plenta boats. My teenagers...

Terrible experience with the boat guy. Never again I’ll take this boat ride and suggest other too not to take it unless you are up for arguments at the other side of boat ride where you have no means to go back than accept the price boatman asks for. It’s anyways useless to go to the island where everything is chargeable ! How can entry to a Church be chargeable ! Boatman are rude and often are abusive towards tourists. They charge you whatever and follow no rules. If you ask questions or ask to follow rules they start getting impatient and abusive than answering politely. Our boat was RA-547-ELA. Super duper rude guy !! I wish I was staying longer and could follow up with a proper treatment with state police...
