Restavracija Vila Ajda Dax & apartma — Restaurant in Bled

I went back and forth about rating this place a 1 or a 2, because the food (when it finally came), was pretty good and the staff were very polite and apologetic. However, the service was terribly slow, the host admitted he forgot about our food, and even when we finally got the bill and we tried to pay quickly because we told them we were in a hurry, we were ignored.

Let me break it down. We waited 15 minutes to order drinks. We got them fairly quickly and then waited 20 more minutes until our order was taken. When we tried to order around 8:20PM they said all but two or three items were no longer available to order. No problem, we ordered one of the alternate items we looked at and the host said "great, that item is already prepared and ready to serve." Along with that we ordered some soup. Fast forward 30 minutes and we are irritated that the soup hasn't even arrived we politely ask for the soup to be served. The host realizes he forgot and brings it out about five minutes later and admits he forgot about it. Normally I wouldn't mind, but then I noticed he forgot about three other tables outside around us and he's apologizing to them too. Another 15 minutes or so after the soup is long since finished he finally brings out the food "that was already prepared and ready to serve." When we finally got to eat it, we were glad the food was actually pretty tasty and considered upping our rating a little. This thought left our mind after we went up to to the host and asked for the bill because we needed to leave to not miss our check in window at a hotel an hour away. He brought it over about 10 minutes later and we tried to hand him our credit card right away and he walked away. We called to him and he just sort of waved us away. I figured he needed to get the machine and waited a minute for him to return. He didn't. We asked his (son/associate?) and he said he was getting the machine. We then proceeded to watch him cleaning glasses and putting a toaster or something away and totally forgetting about us again. At this point we were just done with this place and put down cash and got the heck...

Recommended by the concierge from our hotel. What a great call! After a two week culinary tour of France including the likes of ducasse and bocuse this beautiful little gem is off the charts! The house red wine pairs wonderfully with the trio of pork including ribs, smoked, and braised pork shanks. The charcuterie board rivals anything I've seen on this continent including the radish whipped cottage cheese, beef toungue, and veal pate. The locally produced blueberry aperitif was something special as well. The small staff in this establishment is as in love with what they do as the guests enjoying the experience. As the cheff of a fine dining restaurant in south Carolina U.S.A i can't give enough compliments. Vila Ajda is just a beautiful representation of what this amazing little country, and cozy...

This is one the best places I have stayed. The room was just too good and the balcony, the spacious balcony was right next to the lake with a view to Bled Castle. Great place to sit and enjoy some drinks and watch the castle. Its not that you have a view from far away, its one the best views in the area. You can even lay down on the bed and still be able to see the castle and thats quite cool. The restaurant was great too and food was tasty. We dint even find the need to try other restaurants as apparently this is one the best places in town. The staff were super helpful and always gave good recommendations for the food.
