Wow! The best Korean restaurant we’ve eaten at outside of Korea and the States, and we’ve tried a bunch (I’m ethnically Korean and my wife and I are quite picky when it comes to Korean food). We ate here twice in our three days in Slovenia, and we would have gone more if we had stayed longer! Our kids kept eating all the dishes, even though they were sweating buckets from the spicier ones. We saw that everyone was ordering the chicken gang jung (Korean fried chicken; think Bon Chon Chicken); we got some and it was amazing. We also loved the bibimbap (very well-known Korean dish—rice with vegetables, meat, and gochujang, a yummy spicy sauce, which they provided in a ketchup bottle, so you can put a dollop on every spoonful), kimchi bokkumbap (kimchi fried rice), kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), samgyeopsal, deop bap (a tasty non-spicy rice dish), and our kids’ favorite, mandu (dumplings). We kept saying that we wished we could eat more or that there were more than five of us so we could try other dishes. All the ban chan (side dishes) was really tasty, as well, including the homemade kimchi. Whether you’re familiar with Korean food or not, definitely try Ogam out if you’re...
Read moreCan’t say anything good about this place. Later we found out from locals that they moved downstairs and it used to be better before, hence the good reviews here. When we came there we were surprised at first because it didn’t look like in the pictures at all. We waited 30min to be served. For the simple food (see next point) we waited another 45min and they forgot about our drinks…we just ordered tap water. They also forgot to serve Kimchi which was ordered on the side. The food was absolutely not worth the price. We had Bibimbaps which entailed the following ingredients: small portion of rice, local veggies (i.e. green beans, carrots, zucchini, fried egg and a bit of protein)…no Asian/Korean ingredients at all, simple soy/chilli sauce. The taste was heartless and I could prepare this dish at home in 5min + small portion. This dish can’t cost more than 2€ for ingredients yet it costs 15€. The place stinks and is filled in BBQ smoke because there is no venting at all. Prepare to get an extra smoky perfume which will last for days. Very...
Read moreWent here to try out some KBBQ in Ljubljana, and I was pleasantly surprised! I’ve had some abroad but not here yet, and it is on par with those.
The service is very nice, the explain the way to use the grill, and they know the menu well. Maybe they could tell you more about the banchans you get, but thats nitpicky.
The food is also delicious! The beef galbi is very nicely seasoned, and the potatoes, zucchini and onion fits well alongside it. The banchans is where this place really shines, they are all unique, and incredibly flavourful! The rice is perfectly cooked, and the dipping sauce is also amazing. The one problem is the potatoes you get to grill alongside the galbi, since they dont cook through when your beef is finished cooking, but you dont miss the potatoes honestly.
The atmosphere is equally as nice, calm and clean. The only thing missing is a more powerful AC unit, now that it’s hot in the summer.
All in all a great KBBQ experience in Ljubljana that is definitely worth...
