Me and my husband visited Asami's Tygervalley on Womans day Friday.

We had the most horrific experience i have ever had at any restaurant in my entire life. I have always known that the waiters were horrible i have never had any good service at Asami's before so we just go because the Sushi is really good. But this time i had the worst experience ever. Firstly our drinks took longer than 20 min... then we had to Wait longer than 30 min for our first order of buffet.. which was not allot. only the deep fried starters. Whilst waiting for our starters there was another couple that came to sit down. they didn't get any service. The worst part is Asami's was almost empty there were almost no customers. After about 30 min of no service the couple stood up and left. then we received our first plate of food of witch the Chicken Dum Sum was completely raw. i still didn't complain or say anything just asked the waiter if it needs to look like that. he said no its raw. He took it back to the kitchen and i told him that he must please not bring any more of it. then we ordered some Sushi. The Sushi took even longer .... i Decided to call the manager. the Manager was of no use. i told him we have been waiting longer than 30 min just for the Sushi and theirs no one in the restaurant. Then i also told him about the raw Dum sum so that they don't serve it to more customers. The manager said sorry and came back a few min later and said he orders us more Dum sum after i specifically said i don't want more, he just said yes but he has already ordered it. What type of manager is this ???? not resolving any thing just making it WORSE. When he personally brought the second batch of Dum sum which we didn't want all of it was RAW for the second time. A manager that doesn't test ask his chefs to make an extra one so he can test if before he gives it to the customer for the second time..... this is not a manager. i have been in the hospitality industry for more than 6 years now.... this is even to me completely ridicules. We didn't even eat dessert because it was so bad we couldn't even try to stay another min for them to make it worse. i think the most disgrace was the manager didn't even offer any compensation. We Paid R700.00 for the worst night we ever had at a restaurant. i hope this message finds the Right person to do something about Asami's because i can promise you if you keep up like this there wont be a Asami's any longer.

thank you for the WORST...

We recently visited this establishment for an early sushi buffet dinner and were pleasantly surprised with this venue.

Located on the top floor of Tygervalley Mall, this is a spacious restaurant with plenty of seated tables, as well as a very impressive conveyor belt that allows for enough space for plenty of people to sit around.

On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our table and were smoothly handed over to the designated Floor Server that would be looking after us for this dinner. Having never experienced the conveyor belt before and in not knowing how it works, both the Waitron and the over-the-counter Sushi Chef were happy to explain the process, guided us through the menu, and as we enjoyed the options available to us the Sushi Chef happily kept his eyes on us and explained all the dishes, we were not sure of.

We were so excited with the array of different dishes provided compared to other sushi outlets that we completely forgot to order off the menu (as some items are only available by ordering due to demand) and can definitely advise to perhaps place your order for something you want to try before you get lost in the conveyor belt.

The quality and portion sizes were generous.

We started our dinner buffet around 17h00, which was a good time for us, but can advise that this restaurant soon filled up with the late evening diners.

A great, happy and filling experience and also one that had quality food available with the freshest fish that other restaurants...

Hi, I was there last night with my sister. A tall slim white guy was our waiter. We sat at the sushi bar/belt and both ordered the buffet. I myself am not a huge sushi lover, but my sister is. I think all together I had a total of 8 pieces for the whole evening. We arrived at 6 and left just after 9. From these 8 pieces there were 3 leftover pieces which I put aside, because I didn't like the taste of it. When he came to take our empty plates, he had the nerve to ask me why I didn't finish the 3 left over pieces. I was first of all, blown away that he could even ask that question?? I said to him, because I do not like the taste of it. He said well I am not actually allowed to leave left over pieces, and that it specifically stipulates on the menu, that you will pay R15 for each left over piece. I said to him I do NOT have a problem of paying for the left over pieces, but I will still NOT eat it. He wanted to take the conversation further, and my sister saw that I was just about to loose my temper with this guy, and she saved the night.

When we left I still paid him exactly the tip one is supposed to pay waiters.

My point for writing this review, I think this guy first of all has no people skills at all. He's definitely in the wrong profession. I found him rude and unfriendly. Unfortunately I will not step a foot in your restaurant again, because when I think of Asami's now, I see his face, and the mere thought of that, leaves a bitter taste...

This was literally the worst meal and experience I've had in a very long time. The waiter Michael was not clued up about anything. We requested a cocktail and instead of advising us what they didn't have, which was almost the entire cocktail menu, he walked up and down to come back and advise that they didn't have this or that. The food took very long to arrive, most probably because of the sushi buffet special and when it did, anything tempura or spring roll, was cold. I got the combo 5, which is a variety of salmon. Never have I ever eaten sushi rice so sour. It was like the chef forgot to measure the vinegar. I literally had three pieces to be sure that I wasn't imagining this. The manager came to apologize and tried to make right but how do you make that right? I usually write about good experiences and give credit where it's due but this experience was really not a great one. I went to read some of their reviews now only and see that I'm not the only person that feels this way. Suggestions: do menu tastings with management and train the staff better.

We went for sushi at Asami's in Tygervalley on 25 July 2021 and attended the evening 18H00 - 20H00 buffet session. We were served by Cole Jensen. When we placed our order for drinks one of our friends ordered water, and because he didn't hear that Cole was organising a jug, he received a few sarcastic remarks from Cole. Cole sarcastically asked my friend "Are you also deaf in the left ear?" and this was a total put off from the start. At dessert time almost everything was out of stock, and Cole joked so much about everything, it really didn't feel like he took any of our questions seriously. Also, we had to repeatedly ask for napkins. Also, the kitchen closes at 19H30. It is recommended that you inform a customer about this when the buffet session start because we had to ask Cole about this as well. The food was great though and we could at least secure our bookings via their new WhatsApp system, which was positive part of the evening. Sorry Asami's, but this was not the way to end our day.

Went there on 8 October 2022 just after 4pm. The waitress was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Note, there is a waiting time on drinks (alcohol or not). The cosmopolitan (wrong glass though) was devine but the blue drink was not. Average hot chocolate and chocolate milkshake. The sushi wasn't too bad (had salmon sushi, unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the sushi). Reasonably priced. Had to pay my bill in front (not sure why) but all good. It appears to be a cool place to chill. Music wasn't too loud. I brought my nephew (aged 12) here to eat sushi as it was his first time.
