The service wasn't bad, the staff is actually very kind and friendly. From the server (Tariro) to the ladies at the bakery. They really did so well.
In terms of the atmosphere, it was a bit busy despite it being 11:30am. It was also very loud, I could barely hear my colleagues as we went there for a brunch meeting. It did quiet down around 2pm. So maybe go after lunch time if you want some peace and quiet.
The food was not great at all. I had a butter chicken "burger". The chicken strips in the sandwich were like biltong. I couldn't even cut them, they were rock hard. Their fries were also not great... Basically bland, almost boiled textured potatoes. Even my small baby refused to eat them and he loves chips.
I bought a slice of chocolate cake to go. It was most dullest tasting cake I've ever had. Absolutely no flavour. Not even sweetness- like sugar taste. It very fresh and moist but the taste was literally 0. The only chocolate thing about it was the colour... I don't know if they were trying to make it more healthy, but that's really not why one would spend R80 on a slice of cake, now is it? The chocolate thingie on top also tasted like nothing. I have never been disappointed by any Mugg 'n Bean desserts, but I really regret getting that cake. Maybe I should have tried another flavour...
Their pear fizzy mocktail was very nice... And the menu says it's bottomless, definitely worth a try! I also enjoyed the chai latté I had when I arrived. So 100% on the drinks side.
Overall, lovely service but horrible food and super super loud around the time we went. Sorry to say... I would be keen to see how it would be on a less busy time, maybe the food would...
Read moreOn the 28th December 23...myself and my wife had a bad experience with Mug & Bean Tygervally.
When we got to the main entrance the Waiter informed us that they were offline and we had to have cash. So we walked to get cash etc... When we got back to M&B we sat and waited for service for almost 20 minutes due to them being offline and short of staff. Finally Waiter came and took our order. I ordered a bottomless coffee and the Apple French toast. The Apple French Toas was so hard and dry I couldn't even order another coffee because the Waiter keep on walking past our table saying he'll come back now. We ended asking up asking for the bill not finishing what we ordered and also to top it off another Waiter walked past our table with a Card Machine, and that just tipped us over. We had to walk to go an withdraw cash and here this Waiter pass us with Card Machine.
M&B Tygervally has never given such poor service.
The Waiter that always assist us named Dylan has given excellent service for the years we've been going to M&B Tygervally. Unfortunately for us he was off duty and it seems whenever he's off duty nothing seems to run smoothly at M&B Tygervally. My opinion is that Dylan should be made Manager seeing he knows or understand...
Read moreWe had a fantastic family meal at Mugg & Bean Tyger Valley Centre, and I have to commend Lihle for the exceptional service. Our table of three shared a variety of dishes, including the Toasted Chicken Mayo, a Muffin Cappuccino, the Smoked Trout Open Sandwich (on sourdough), and a side egg. Every item was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious!
Lihle’s service truly stood out—friendly, prompt, and attentive. They made sure we were comfortable, kept everything running smoothly, and even checked in to ensure we were enjoying the meal. Their warm and professional demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable.
What really touched us was the handwritten “Baie Dankie” and “Happy New Year” on the receipt. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made us feel welcomed and valued as customers.
This visit reminded us why we love Mugg & Bean—not just for the great food but for the incredible hospitality. If you’re looking for a family-friendly spot with outstanding service, I highly recommend this branch. We’ll...
