Corner House Curries — Restaurant in Gauteng

I encountered discrimination from the elderly Indian gentleman who was working the till yesterday (01/12/2023). Ensure equal service to all customers, regardless of their ethnicity. Unacceptable behavior.

Context: I placed an order for a chicken bunny chow and a can of coke (the latter was for a friend who happens to be Indian - the race will make sense later).

Upon ordering, the elderly Indian gentleman asks if I'd like a receipt from the card machine after the transaction went through and I said no (as the transaction will reflect in my statement) but I'd like a store receipt for collecting the order once ready - to which he responded, you don't need one as I'll be here and I'll remember you.

Waited a few minutes for my order with my friend outside and later (+/-15mins) went inside the store alone to check on my order, the elderly Indian man saw me walk in while busy helping other customers. While patiently waiting for my order for another approximately 12mins, my Indian friend walks in and the Indian gentleman immediately acknowledges her and says mam' your order is ready and completely ignores me...mind you, I'm the one that ordered.

He completely stopped what he was doing to give my friend the best service but wouldn't do the same for a black customer.

The food items were ordered in the gold reef city theme park restuarant in the afternoon.

I honestly did not enjoy the food items from here,I tried them out in the theme park today or earlier today and ordered the following: ●potato samosas(Upon trying them, it was steaming hot and I took a small bite,potato was bland inside but as soon as i took the second bite the entire middle and bottom was ice cold and still frozen in the middle,we took it back and they said they would make cheese and corn instead) ●cheese and corn samosas(the first batch same with the potato was still cold and frozen in the middle,cheese was not melted either,dont know how they found it hard to deep fry a pastry which is filled however just no flavour to it and was very watery) ●Chicken bunny chow(curry was very bland and had a burnt taste to it,after taking one bite I couldnt have another as it made me feel like I was going to throw up.

Hopefully they learnt from those mistakes and if you do eat here,I hope you will have a better experience and food than i did.

Absolutely disguising, not only is their food not tasty, but their staff also has no respect and treats clients as thieves. While eating their waiter comes with the card machine demanding that i require to pay immediately, when questioned as to why i was told that people do not pay and run away, i was then very upset and demanded to call their manager, manager did arrive and apologized on the waiter's behalf. I then insisted that i want to speak to the owner and was told that he cannot share the contact number of the owner, he then called the owner and explained the wrong story and was told that the owner will call back and then i can speak to him which never happened. Spending R300 for 2 Bunnies and 4 buddy cokes was a waste of time and monies, The waiter has no idea of how big their bunnies are, when questioned, her reply was " Very Big". what a joke, hope that the Owner can call me....... I will never in my life recommend this restaurant to any friends or family...
