Stay clear of this Doppio Zero!

Really appalling and overpriced. My girlfriend and I came here for late lunch today and we each ordered a salad - mine was the Mediterranean quinoa and hers was the calamari salad. Hungry, and excited, and used to the standard of Doppio Zero, we were stricken when our lovely and attentive waiter brought these cat-bowl sized salad bowls…with the most inconsequential and infertile salads we have ever seen restauranting. The Mediterranean quinoa salad was R155 and was honestly just enough to floss with, flopping around the bowl like a tennis ball in a basketball hoop. Nothing Mediterranean about it, should be called the Wasteland salad honestly. The calamari salad, R165 had THREE pieces of calamari, and four pieces of inconsequential squid, not to mention the actual salad ingredients were insanely sub par. The bowls were barren, point blank. In what world does a calamari salad with three pieces of calamari warrant not only the title, but the price??? It’s laughable. It honestly felt like the kitchen forgot our meals and just gave us plate garnish.

This is insulting, what happened to the Doppio Zero standard? They really took recession-core to the next level. If you’re minimising your portions to this extent and asking higher prices, when what is the excuse for the peeling wallpaper? Where is that money going? Really negligent management!! Friendly staff though.

And so this review leaves us R320 poorer and we are STILL HUNGRY, but by all means, if what you are craving is a one bite wonder, head over to Sandton City...

We reserved a table, visited Doppio Zero Sandton City on Father's Day. Looking forward to a relaxed day and good food meeting Doppio Zero standards but their whole team gave an appalling service that doesn't even deserve one star rating. The food and service from their unattentive waiter, poor service manager wearing a blue shirt was a total let down. I specifically asked the waiter to only place our mains order when done with starters. To our surprise he came back whilst we were still eating starters to inform us our main was ready. We had to rush through our starters. Nonetheless we waited 15 minutes for the main we were told was ready. 2 of us ordered medium steaks but received well done steaks. We returned it, after another 15 /20 minutes we received the same dirty plates, raw steaks and cold food. I called the manager (wearing a blue shirt) and she asked for another chance. We then received half the portions of everything and the sauce tasted like the packet sauce I don't even buy for my household. We basically paid and suffered for their incompetency. The same manager didn't follow up on us and she disappeared to the kitchen when she saw us leaving. The whole experience was just a waste of a good day and money. Doppio Zero service and food standard has gone down immensely. I even had an upset tummy after eating their food. After that appalling service I won't be coming back, it left a bitter taste...

TLDR: My first try of a Dopio 00 and I walked into a 17 minutes wait before leaving and asked by the manager to give them a second chance. Unfortunately I don't think a fair rating can be given after my first visit. I will return and try again.

We were seated and not attended to for over 15 minutes. The food and wine menu was dirty and sticky, not a pleasant way to start. We had enough time waiting for the waiter or manager to show up to search for and view menus of the nearby restaurants. We had to resort to calling for a manager as we decided to walk out and go to Spur instead.

The menu variety and pricing seams reasonable of what you would expect from a restaurant of the status and caliber. We decided to try a shared platter menu and focacia starter. Our starter was quite nice, well on par with the expected value.

Located near the side of the mall with a lovely view of the outside. It is fun watching the city move about outside and relax with a meal and drink.

The venue was remodeled recently and the style is quite modern and clean. The ambiance is not suited for fine dining or relaxing evenings. The music is up beat and modern with many loud conversations about. The place could use noise...
