Ocean Basket Sandton has been one of our family's go-to restaurants for years. Despite having several dining options closer to home, we’ve always made the effort to drive to Sandton City because we’ve valued the consistent quality and experience this branch used to offer.

Unfortunately, our most recent visit was a major letdown. We went for dinner and were immediately disappointed to hear that the restaurant had run out of butter — a basic item, especially at a seafood restaurant. When our seafood platter arrived, it was noticeably smaller than usual. I raised this concern with the manager, who admitted the portion did not meet their usual standard. I even requested a scale to weigh the food for clarity, but the manager disappeared and never returned.

To make matters worse, when we asked for tartar sauce, we were told they had run out of that as well. No apology, no alternatives offered. We paid for the meal but left unsatisfied — and ended up getting takeaway elsewhere just to feed our kids properly.
