Wimpy Sandton City Halaal — Restaurant in Gauteng

Have been to Wimpy in Sandton a few times. Last Sunday I went there for a quick breakfast because of a power outage in our area. The service was poor, our waitress followed up on our order 5 times and it took approximately 30 minutes to get served our order of the flapjack stack and carrot cake malva pudding. Our coffee was luke warm by the time the food arrived. People ordering full grill meals and toasted sandwiches received their orders long before we did. The flapjacks were dry, warm and looked stale/old, they were microwaved at the front at the coffee station not cooked on the grill where food is prepared. They were not what I expected based on previous visits and it was a totally underwhelming experience. Our waitress was treated in a demeaning manner by the two women at the coffee section who ignored her repeated queries about our order. Will not be returning to Wimpy Sandton...

Disappointing Experience at Sandton Branch

I recently visited the Sandton branch and was thoroughly unimpressed with the service. When ordering a waffle and ice cream for takeaway, I was shocked to see the staff handling the waffle with their bare hands, leaving it on the counter, and then cutting it with scissors without any gloves or utensils.

To make matters worse, the server was visibly sweaty while handling my food, which raised serious hygiene concerns. When I expressed my disappointment, the manager's response was unconvincing, claiming that gloves aren't used but tongs are – which weren't used in my case.

The lack of apology or concern from the staff was particularly striking. Overall, my experience at the Sandton branch was disappointing, and I hope they take steps to improve their food handling practices and...

The restaurant was not fully occupied. There was a reasonable number of guests seated. We were greeted by friendly staff at the entrance. There is a kids play area, the kids were playing around. Some kids were offered colour sheets to keep them busy. The facility was well lit with modern finishes. The establishment is a halaal establishment so no alcohol and no pork is serve at this establishment. There was a good mix of clientele. A bits and bites platter was ordered with a strawberry milkshake as a salted caramel iced coffee. The drinks were made available timeously. The platter too was quickly served.
