Lupa Osteria — Restaurant in Gauteng

We came out for a family dinner and our experience was next to perfect. Amazing food. I had the new york style pizza.. cooked in a classic wood oven. The base was perfectly crispy, cheese melted without leaving that disgusting grease on top. If I were to leave one bad comment. It would be that I was not a fan of the raw dried herbs sprinkled on top, but nonetheless I truly enjoyed it. My brother had the gnocchi del sol. Fluffy pillows of perfectly cooked gnocchi coated in a creamy napoli sauce. Prawns perfectly cooked. My father had the peri peri wood roasted chicken. Moist and juicy chicken coated in the perfect amount of peri peri sauce and served with chips that were the perfect balance between crisp as fluffy.

Our drinks were deliciously refreshing. Well done to the guys in the bar who left to detail out.

But the star of the night was our waiter Phil. Who made us feel welcomed from the moment we sat down at our table. His attention to detail was admirable. His knowledge of the specials shows his experience and care for his job as a server. He was attentive and ever helpful. Worst experience ever! RSVP’d table for 21 guests for a birthday. Waiter was great, we all relaxed in expecting a great evening. 2.5 hours after order we still had no food! No explanation from the manager just avoidance from all staff. After multiple guests going to find out what was happening we kept getting told ‘it’s coming’ my father in law is diabetic and he started feeling ill because he hadn’t eaten. Guests that arrived hours after us got their food at surrounding tables. Finally the manager said he was going to go help cook in the kitchen. With all due respect we go to a restaurant expecting a chef to cook otherwise we could just cook at home. When the food finally arrived 2 dishes at a time and disjointed, it was terrible. I had prawn gnocchi - 2 prawns and packet gnocchi over cooked, husband had chicken which was suppose to have blue cheese sauce instead it was pepper. Fish not seasoned and overcooked. It was our first time dining at Lupa Osteria, We were quite a big family with babies and prams and they accommodated to our every need RE space as well as seating. The Cocktails were absolutely lovely as well as other refreshments. Around the table we ordered Steaks, Prawns, Chicken and Lamb Shanks and can I say Wow! The food was superb, absolutely delish! It was my sisters Birthday as well and they came with a plate decorated with chocolate syrup quoting "Happy Birthday" and a Créme Brûlée dessert. We are absolutely satisfied with the service we received, the Manager, our waiters/ waitress, drinks, food and overall everything. For someone thats a bit of a food critic I can honestly recommend Lupa Osteria to anyone and everyone. I do fear other well-known Restaurants have New Competition...
